Fundamental concepts of Microprocessor, Internal and external architecture of 8086 microprocessor,


Memory Organization of 8086 microprocessor, Brief Architecture of RAM and Peripheral Devices,
Programming Languages for Interfacing, Pseudo Code, Assembly Languages, Instruction Sets, IO
controller programming, Interrupt, Data conversion algorithm, Brief Introduction to Microcontroller
8051, Memory Organization of Microcontroller 8051, Assembly and C programming in Microcontroller

8051, Port Programming in Microcontroller 8051. Brief introduction to ARM microprocessor, GPU
computing and prototyping of embedded systems Project based learning of power budget calculation in
embedded system. Introduction to Industry 4.0

Course Objectives:

1. to introduce the internal and external architecture of microprocessor 8086


2. to explain the interconnection of microprocessor and different peripheral devices
3. to introduce Assembly language for direct manipulation of microprocessor 8086
4. to introduce to simulation tool i.e. emulator 8086 for simulation based works
5. to introduce to recent concepts in embedded system and prototyping

Course Components:

 Lectures: Attendance in the class is strongly encouraged.

 Assignments: You will be given some course relevant assignments. You have to individually
submit (hardcopy) it in form of report.

 Quizzes: You have to sit for quizzes at times. Date of the quizzes will be announced in the class.
Please kindly, be informed that No make-up quizzes will be taken.

 Mid-Term Examination: There will be only one mid-term examination. Please kindly, be
informed that No make-up exam for the Mid-term will be taken.

 Term Project: A project presentation will be held for each group. The content and the
requirements of the project will be discussed in the class.

 Final-Term Examination: There will be only one final-term examination. Please kindly, be
informed that No make-up exam for the Final-term will be taken.

 Laboratory: Attendance and active participation in the laboratory is highly encouraged. Your
performance in the laboratory will be evaluated through project and lab works. This will be added
to the final score of your theory course. Importantly, you have to obtain minimum 60%
marks in the lab in order to pass this course. Fail in the lab clearly implies fail in the theory.
