Study the following information carefully and answer the related questions.
Below data shows the number of applications received through mail for the
recruitment of a company. Among the applicants, some were called for interview.
There are two types of recruitments ate there, freelancing and full-time work. Full-
time workers work in two shifts.

Number of people applied for freelancing work = A

Number of people applied for full-time work = B
(Note: Values given in percentage are out of number of mails received.)

1) If 85% of applicants selected from applicants called for an interview, then how
many non-selected applicants are there who applied for full-time work?
A) 331 B) 341 C) 351 D) 361 E) 371

2) If number of applicants not selected during interview are 6 more than the
number of females selected for full time work but not for shift 1, then find the
value of D.
A) 12.4% B) 15.8% C) 18.6% D) 13.2% E) 16.8%

3) If applicants selected for full time work are 28.6% of number of mails received,
then how many males are selected for full time work?
A) 168 B) 184 C) 170 D) 192 E) 206

4) If number of mails received for full time work are 100 more than the number of
mails received for freelancing work, then applicants selected for freelancing work
are approximately what percent of applicants applied for freelancing work?
A) 29.56% B) 44.82% C) 33.43% D) 41.29% E) 38.67%

5) If 48% applicants did not call for interview, then what is the value of

A) 952.36 B) 887.56 C) 908.26 D) 848.46 E) 979.76

Set 1 solution

1) MP of Q = Rs. 4830
SP of Q = 92% of 4830 = Rs. 4443.60
CP of Q = 4830 × (100/115) = Rs. 4200
CP of U = Rs. 1000
SP of U = 92% of 1000 = Rs. 920
Total CP = 4200 + 1000 = Rs. 5200
Total SP = 4443.6 + 920 = Rs. 5363.60
Required profit percent = [(5363.6 – 5200)/5200] × 100 = 3.15% (Approx)

2) Let CP of novel R and S is 2a and a respectively.

SP of novel R = 75% of 110% of 2a = 5775
⇒ 1.65a = 5775
⇒ a = 3500
CP of novel S = a = Rs. 3500
MP of novel S = 120% of 3500 = Rs. 4200
Amount of discount = 4200 – 3850 = Rs. 350

3) Amount of discount offered on novel Q = 8% of 4830 = Rs. 386.4

SP of novel T = 108% of 2600 = Rs. 2808
MP of novel T = Rs. 2912
Discount offered on novel T = 2912 – 2808 = Rs. 104
Required difference = 386.4 – 104 = Rs. 282.4

4) MP of novel P = 125% of 2240 = Rs. 2800

SP of novel when single cumulative discount of 10% is applied = 90% of 2800 = Rs. 2520
Amount of profit = 2520 – 2240 = Rs. 280
SP of novel when two successive discount of 5% are applied = 95% of 95% of 2800 = Rs.
2527
Amount of profit = 2527 – 2240 = Rs. 287
Required difference = 287 – 280 = Rs. 7

5) SP of novel T = 108% of 2600 = Rs. 2808

MP of novel T = Rs. 2912
Discount offered on novel T = 2912 – 2808 = Rs. 104
SP of novel U = 92% of 1000 = Rs. 920
MP of novel U = 118% of 1000 = Rs. 1180
Discount offered on novel U = 1180 – 920 = Rs. 260
Required difference = 104 : 260 = 2 : 5
SET 3 SOLUTION
1)
That means a man can do 6a units of work in a given time
A woman can do 5a units of work in the given time
The child can do 3a units of work in the same time
Project A requires 8 men, 12 women and 6 children

In 18 days, they will do

Similarly, for Project E, 7 men, 6 women and 4 children will do 84a units of work in 1 day
In 12 days, they will do
Now the team gets exchanged
2)

That means a man can do 6a units of work in a given time

A woman can do 5a units of work in the given time
The child can do 3a units of work in the same time
Project C has 15 men, 16 women and 10 children

Project D has 9 women and 11 children

where

∴ Number of men

3)
That means a man can do 6a units of work in a given time
A woman can do 5a units of work in the given time
The child can do 3a units of work in the same time
Women contribute 28%
Number of women = 7

28% accounts for 35a units of work

Number of men = 11

35a equals 28%

∴ 66a will equal 52.8%
Men and women combine finish ( 52.8 + 28 ) = 80.8% of the work
Rest 19.2 % will be completed by children
19.2% = 24a
24a units will be finished by 8 children as 1 child does 3a units of work

SET 4
Data given in all individual question for the given
graph is interrelated, so, we will determine the
value of all unknown variables by using data
given in respective questions.
From first question:
85% of 780 = C + applicants selected for
freelancing work ...(i)
From second question:
780 - C - applicants selected for freelancing work
= 6 + D% of (A + B) - 126 ...(ii)
From third question:
28.6% of (A + B) = C ...(iii)
From fourth question:
B = A + 100 ...(v)
From (i) and (ii), we get
D% of (A + B) = 237 ...(vi)
From fifth question:
(100 - 48)% of (A + B) = 780
A + B = 1500 ..(vii)
Then, from (v) and (vii), we get
1500 - A = A + 100
A = 700, B = 800
From (vi) and (vii), we get
D% of 1500 = 237
D=15.8
From (iii) and (vii), we get
28.6% of 1500 = C
C = 429
Then, 85% of 780 = 429 + applicants selected for freelancing work

1) Applicants selected for freelancing work = 234

Number of applicants applied for full time work = B = 800
Number of applicants selected for full time work = C = 429
Therefore, number of non-selected applicants who applied for full time work = 800 –
429 = 371

2) Value of D = 15.8%

3) Number of males are selected for full time work = C - D% of (A + B)

= 429 - 15.8% of 1500
= 192

4) Number of applicants applied for freelancing work = A = 700

Number of applicants selected for freelancing work = 234
Therefore, percentage = (234/700) x 100 = 33.43%
