Edg - Imp - Last Year Question Papers

1. The document discusses different types of sectional orthographic views used in engineering drawings including: - Full section which cuts the object entirely to expose internal features - Half section which cuts the object halfway to show interior and exterior details in the same view - Partial or broken section which shows important interior details while maintaining important exterior features 2. It also describes different sectioning techniques such as revolved section, removed section, offset section, and aligned section which are used when a regular section does not provide the required level of detail.

1.2.5 Offset Section

In some objects when cutting plane does not explain the required details or passes through
features which should not be sectioned, it is offset by changing the direction and made to pass
through required details (Fig. 1.8).
When regular section plane shows less details, then offset section plane is used. The edges of
the offset cutting plane are not to be shown in the sectional view. The cutting plane should be
located with arrows to indicate the direction of the observer.

corner of its base on HP. Draw its projections when the slant edge containing
that corner makes an angle of 45º to HP with axis parallel to VP.
(b) A square prism base 40 mm side and axis 80 mm long is resting on HP on its
base with all vertical faces equally inclined to VP. It is cut by a plane
perpendicular to VP and inclined to HP by 60º, passing through a point on
axis 55 mm above HP.
