Career Interview Assignment.

I have always had an interest in the information technology field. This is a broad field

and it can be a challenge to choose one particular aspect of it to specify in. I also love and enjoy

working with numbers and enjoy math. When I combine mathematics with information

technology, I get career suggestions like, being a statistician, data analyst, data scientist, and data

engineer. These people work closely with programmers since some of the aspects of data

analysis and data manipulation involves programming. So my interest in information technology

and interest in mathematics led me to choose this career path. It was interesting to know that the

person I interviewed shares the same interest as me. That gave me more hope.

My typical day at work has changed in the last two years though the major

responsibilities are still the same. Earlier before COVID I had to be in the office at nine in the

morning and leave at five in the evening. Currently I work from home. I’m expected to work in

the same hours as before but at times I tend to go late into the night. I conduct my meetings

through zoom and google meet, again thank God for technology.

The most rewarding aspect of my job is after my analysis of any given data and I’ve

come up with a dashboard and the clients are impressed. The insights gotten from the data are

always on point and direct and they help solve some problems in the society. The least rewarding

point is when I have to clean the data before doing the analysis. Also coming up with the best

model for the data can be challenging.

The working conditions can be enjoyable at times and stressful at times. Whenever I

manage to deliver a project on the given deadline then that becomes satisfactory, but when the

project lags behind and the clients get worked up then it becomes very stressful.
For you to become a data scientist or analyst or even a statistician, you need a degree in

statistics. Currently, there are several online platforms that offer the data analysis courses and

you can also make use of those. Some of the most known platforms are Udemy, Datacamp,

Coursera, EDX and many others, even google.

Some of the skills necessary for this career is, you have to always be time conscious, this

helps with meeting deadlines for the different projects. You need to be analytical and always pay

attention to details, help with the numbers. Other skills are like good communication skills,

helped when you are working with other people from different departments to achieve the goals

of the projects.

This career is one of those that will stand the test of time. There another aspect that build

from them like machine learning and artificial intelligence. So it is a very viable career path to

move with into the future.

Another benefit offered by this career path is that it allows you to spend time with your

family. You only need to plan your time well. The entry level salary is $64,051 per year. The

more experience you gain, the more your salary range increases. A senior data analyst can earn

up to $111,601 annually.

Other career paths related to this are like software engineering, web development and

application development. I would advise you to choose the aspect that fits you best. Be sure to

choose the kind of career path that you enjoy. The internet is one place where you can get any

kind of information you want concerning your career. there are career centers that can offer some

guidance for you too.
