A recap of your application journey:
You have been nominated and have since completed and

submitted your Partnership Application Form.
You will have already received your Conditional Offer of Study

letter. Once you have met all your conditions you will receive an
Unconditional Offer letter.
Accept your Unconditional or Conditional offer of study. You’ll

then receive a link to log into our online Accommodation Portal
where you can make your reservation for accommodation.
Once you become an Unconditional Offer Holder, you’ll receive

your CAS Statement. Need help with your visa? Look no further!

Undergraduate and Masters Updates
#1: Joining us in Hull in September
• ‘Welcome Fortnight’ will help you settle in, make friends and familiarise yourself with
student life. This will be starting for all students virtually on Monday 14 September, a
week earlier than usual.
• Teaching will begin on Monday 28th September for Undergraduate students, whereas
teaching will begin on Monday 21st September for Masters students.
• We will be helping you to learn where everything is – physically and virtually, to connect
you with your academic department and introduce you to key staff, and to ensure you
feel safe and secure.
• We plan to deliver induction activities online/virtually, and will be looking to offer

face-to-face activities where safe to do so, based on current guidelines.
• If you’re living in our accommodation, we are adjusting our tenancy

agreements so that Welcome Fortnight will be covered by your rent.
With no additional charges for the week of 14 September.
#1: Joining us in Hull in September (cont.)
• Classes will start as planned in September, and teaching in 2020/21 will be delivered though
blended learning. This means a combination of virtual and face-to-face activity, determined by
the COVID-19 situation and guidance we receive.
• It is likely that at the beginning of the academic year the majority of your teaching will be
virtual. As soon as it is safe to do so, we will increase face-to-face/synchronous activity.
• For the first semester at least, most of your lectures will take place virtually, as current social
distancing guidelines make large-group teaching challenging to deliver. We hope that small
group teaching will be able to take place on campus, in line with social distancing guidance to
ensure your safety and that of our staff.
• As with everything at present, there is a chance that things may have to change, and we will
continue to monitor and adapt, as needed, to any changes in the COVID-19 situation.

• Studying at Hull is about a wider student experience, as
much as it is about getting your degree.
• Our campus-based accommodation, library facilities and

student services play a significant part in this and we are
committed to continuing to offer these safely and securely.
• We know, too, that the social aspects of university life are

really important – sports, societies, and meeting up with
friends.
• We are working closely with Hull University Students’ Union

to rethink and reimagine how we can facilitate a strong wider
student experience in the presence of COVID-19 measures.
• We will continue to share with you what this may look like as
we develop our plans collaboratively with our students.
#2: Distance Learning from September - December
• We very much hope that we can welcome you to campus in the autumn. However, we
understand that this will depend on your ability to travel to the UK. We encourage
students who are able to travel to join us on-campus. This means that you will benefit
more from our approach to blended learning.
• For those students who are unable to travel, please be assured that we will be putting in
place measures to deliver the highest quality Distance Learning for the first semester,
prior to your arrival in Hull.
• Our teaching will comprise of synchronous activities that are streamed in real time and
will require your interaction. There will also be asynchronous teaching, with content
recorded and will be uploaded for participants to engage with at any point
• For this option, the UK Government advises that international students can study online
and still be sponsored with a Tier 4 Visa, which will also allow you to benefit from new
post-study work purposes, provided that you arrive in the UK before April 6 2021.

#3: Beginning Your Studies in January 2021
• We now find ourselves in the very advanced stages of considering the offer
of a small number of HUBS Undergraduate (Final Year) and Masters
programmes starting in January 2021.
• We anticipate that for Undergraduate (Final Year) programmes, these may

be programmes predominantly related to Business Management and
Financial Management study areas.
• If your first choice of programme is not possible to offer to begin in January

2021, then we will work closely with you and your home institution to offer
you other programme options in line with your own study interests and
academic background.
• More details will be made available once this has been finalised.
