in Support of Atty. Sandra Olaso-Coronel as the next UP Law Dean

UP Women in Law Alumni and Resident Members Nominating and Endorsing Atty. Sandra Olaso-
Coronel for Dean of the U.P. College of Law

We, the alumni and resident members of the UP Women in Law, respectfully nominate and endorse Atty.
Sandra Olaso-Coronel as the next Dean of the University of the Philippines College of Law.

The UP Women in Law was established with the aim to create an environment where everyone, regardless
of gender, would be empowered to fight for worthy causes, to engage in intellectual discourse, and to uphold
feminist values with wisdom and grace. As an organization existing and operating in the UP College of
Law, we believe that our Dean should be someone who shares not only our ideals as an organization, but
also what the College stands for -- teaching and learning law in the grand manner.

The current pandemic has tested the UP College of Law. While it has risen to the challenge admirably, it
faces a future that needs new ways of communication and interaction without compromising quality
education that shapes future lawyers and leaders of this country. More than ever, we need a Dean who has
a strong vision, is genuinely concerned about its stakeholders, and is competent to lead the College to adapt
and reach out to the alumni, government and non-government organizations and global partners. As the
head of the top law school in the country, the Dean should also be able to balance the interests of all the
stakeholders while maintaining the College’s prestige of producing high-calibre graduates.

We believe that Atty. Sandra Olaso-Coronel would be that Dean. Her strong legal background, several
experiences in the field, and genuine dedication to the College make her an excellent fit to be the next Dean
of the UP College of Law. Throughout her career, Atty. Olaso-Coronel exemplified honor and excellence
in the legal profession, both as a lawyer and an educator. In her many years of service to the UP College
of Law, she has not only contributed to what the College is now, but also has developed strong bonds with
the faculty, staff, and students. With her passion to serve coupled with her active and empathic involvement
in the College, we are confident that UP Law would be in good hands. Being an institution unto herself,
Atty. Olaso-Coronel would also have the respect and support of the College stakeholders and the legal
community in leading us to a new future.

Despite the challenges brought by the pandemic, Atty. Olaso-Coronel does not come empty-handed. From
tackling the concerns of the UP Law Center staff, strengthening alumni relations, boosting international
presence, enriching the real-world skills of students to improve the College’s Bar performance, Atty. Olaso-
Coronel definitely has a plan. In order to continue the College’s tradition of producing graduates and in
training staff to be key players in the national and global community, the holistic education and wellbeing
of its students, staff, and faculty are her primary concerns.

As signatories to this nomination and endorsement letter, we have been privileged to know Atty. Sandra
Olaso-Coronel as her colleagues, co-members in organizations, and students. We strongly believe that she
has what it takes to be a great leader and the next Dean of our beloved UP College of Law.

Respectfully,

Bianca Micaela Gancayco
