Collocations Challenge

This document provides teaching notes for an activity to practice common verb collocations. The activity involves two games: a matching game where students match verbs with collocations, and a game where they take turns drawing verb cards and making sentences using the verbs. The goal is to practice using 20 common verbs in collocations and sentences. Students work in groups, using verb and collocation cards, to play the two games and improve their use of verb collocations.

The students then take it in turns to pick up a card from the top

If the sentence uses the verb correctly and is grammatically

correct, the student keeps the card and scores a point. If the
student is unable to make a correct sentence, the card is placed
at the bottom of the pile.

The next student then takes a card from the top of the pile and so
on. The game continues until all the cards have been used.

The students then add up their points from both games to find
the overall winner.
