lives, work, changing the way we act, behave, learn, and live. Almost all of us are using
development for the benefit of all humankind. Since almost all technology is created to
make life simpler and more enjoyable, humans do benefit greatly from technological
progress. Understanding how to use technology in the teaching and learning process
successfully benefits both teachers and students. Numerous colleges and institutions
are adopting online learning, remote work, and other initiatives as a result of the
COVID-19 pandemic to help slow the spread of the virus. Students may find it helpful to
fully adapt to remote learning with the help of a variety of new tools and technology that
are now readily available and designed to enhance student achievement. This study
was conducted to know all the benefits and how technology plays a big role in every
aspect of all individuals who are using it during this time of pandemic.
Qualitative research collects and analyzes data based on the responses of the
participants. A collective and descriptive findings which are non-numeric in nature was
applied to this research. Data were gathered through interviews and observations of
specific participants. Results showed that technology really has a huge impact in the
learning process of students and it is a great help in the improvement of students in
their studies. Results are discussed in terms of its impact to both students and teachers
in the learning process.

CHAPTER 1
Introduction
Human nature includes technology. It has permeated every part of people's lives, altering
how we function, work, study, and live. It is used by everyone since technology brings processes,
tools, and information in order to encourage development for the betterment of mankind.
6
According to Egbert (2009), the students are today surrounded by technology, where access
to a vast collection of information is only a fingertip away. Furthermore, learners have gotten
more involved in using technology as technology has become more accessible. Because of their
access to online games and other sites that satisfy their pleasure and delight, the majority of
students have gotten engaged in technology. In 2013, a survey was given to the Chicago Public
Schools by Ehrlich, Sporte, Sebring, & the Consortium on Chicago Schools (2013). It was found
that 92% of students had some form of technology and internet access in their home, but fewer
than half of the students use that technology for work and school related activities.
Teachers and students both benefit from understanding how to use technology
effectively in the teaching and learning process. Technological devices have been revolving
around the daily life of teachers and students, utilizing technology for their different educational
purposes. Teachers use technology to interact with their students in a timely and convenient
manner. Furthermore, teachers can use technology to explain lessons that students must learn
without
risking their health during this pandemic. To prepare for their lesson plans and present the
courses, the instructor must know how to use a platform to conduct online classes using
technology such as mobile phones, PCs, and laptops. Moreover, it is really amazing how
technology gives students a lot of information like Articles, Books, and many other references
In the midst of pandemic, technology stands as the life saver of everyone because we
experienced an accelerating shift to a digital environment. The rapidity and scale with which

major issues in times of crisis. We have become reliant on our technology devices to conduct
human-to-human encounters outside of our houses since we are being forced to move our lives
indoors and online. The Department of Education conducts new methods of learning such as
modular and online learning in which enables teachers and students to work via a variety of
digital channels, allowing them to communicate and for information to be disseminated quickly
with the use of technology. It is also important for these classrooms to address the needs of all
students. Technology supports the need for divergent learning approaches, helping to create a

Theoretical Framework
Relevant Theories
Constructivism Theory
The Constructivism Theory of John Dewey, Lev Vygotsky, and Jean Piaget emphasizes
that good and real learning information is not based on what the instructors say or what the
learners heard even if the learners repeat this information again. In addition, the constructivism
theory emphasizes that the learners construct and build the information inside their minds based
on their experiences and prior knowledge. Even more, this construction of the information
influences the learners’ environment, society, and language. Likewise, each learner has their own
11
methods, way of understanding, and experiences to build knowledge, which affects the learning
process.
This theory has an implication for the present study because it was stated in this theory that
learners are constructing the information in their minds based on their experiences and the
influence of their environment, society, and language. Because of the pandemic, there is a big
change in the learning environment of the students wherein technology plays the biggest role in
studying. It is a must for students to make adjustments in their studying in order to cope with the
Connectivism Theory
The Connectivism Theory of George Siemens proposed that learning is derived from
forming connections. Educators must help students connect previous knowledge to new
knowledge, and students must be able to recognize gaps in their knowledge as well. This theory
embraces the idea that learning is no longer a completely internal process. Students should have
opportunities to connect knowledge and ideas, independently seek understanding, and connect
This theory has an implication for the present study because it was stated in this theory that a
connection between educators and students is a must for learning to take place but in modern
times, students are now capable of seeking their own understanding of things to be learned by
12
using technology. Because of the pandemic, students can't go to school and study there, but with
the use of technology, the connection between the students and their teachers remains even
though not in the traditional setup. At this time, we can see the importance of the integration of
technology in learning. With the use of it, the connection to learn will not stop and it can also
help the students to develop their attitude of being independent and just use technology to guide
them.
Constructivist Theory
The Constructivist Theory of Lev Vygotsky proposed that learning is a collaborative process and
that social interaction is fundamental for cognitive development. Students learn best when
working collaboratively with those whose proficiency level is higher than their own, allowing
This theory has an implication for the present study. Since the pandemic started, students are just
staying in their own homes but still, social interaction is not gone. Technology intervention is
made in the educational system at this time. Students are able to interact with their fellow
students and even with their teachers through the use of different technological products. It is not
that hard for students to deal with these changes since technology is part of their generation and
they can also get more information that is useful in their studies with the use of technology.

E-Learning is at the forefront of integrated Science, Technology, Engineering,
Mathematics (STEM) and Computer Science (CS) Education from preschool through 12 th grade.
We create and analyze novel instructional materials and assessments, plan and research
professional development initiatives, and do research on STEM and CS learning in and out of the
classroom. This Study examines learning in the age of technology, describes changing practices
in technology-rich classrooms, and proposes new ways to support teachers as they adopt
technology in their work For an instance, giving a reporting task, the student will come up
creating a presentation on a laptop that will be her/his tool to fulfill the task given. Teachers also
make lessons through digital devices as they adopt these teaching practices. Early models of
educational change implied that if teachers had access and enough equipment and training,
classroom integration would follow (cf., Apple Classrooms of Tomorrow; Fisher, Dwyer, &
Yocam, 1996). But due to lack of equipment and tools, it affects the effectiveness of online
learning.Teachers are forced to adopt this kind of set-up due to the closing of schools caused by
the sudden pandemic. In this paper, We discuss barriers and then describe specific strategies for
circumventing, overcoming, and eliminating the changing barriers teachers face as they work to
achieve technology integration. Additionally, Teachers need to be helped to change the way they
teach rather than just how to use computers. Furthermore, with the advanced technology teachers
are able to record instructions for their students. With the advancement of technology, it enables
School Operations are having trouble coping up with the distance learning implemented
respondents perceive the current distance learning model was around 20 to 50 percent effective.
14
On the other hand, 14 percent of respondents stated that such a learning model is 80 to 100
percent effective. Students are hindered by; slow internet connection, lack of digital devices that
makes them left behind with their batchmates who have all the privilege to have access to these
advanced ways of studying where technologies are involved. Furthermore, some of these
students are not capable of studying alone without the guide of a teacher. This new way of
learning makes students spend most of their time facing the monitor rather than talking to a real
human. It also made them more dependent on the internet. With enough tools such as; mobile
phones, prepaid internet, and personal laptop, helps them follow instructions seen in many
platforms including YouTube and Google. Recorded videos sent by their teachers helps a lot in
studying a lesson of the day. Teachers are also having trouble giving instructions through
(2015), a survey suggests two-thirds of students use mobile devices for learning and believe that
technology can help them achieve learning outcomes and better prepare them for a workforce
that is increasingly dependent on technology. Students use technology to achieve their desire to
support their learning by using technology to help them to have good grades and give them
learning depending on what they want to know or analyze. Moreover, the belief that it will help
not only in education but also in their future work, which we know is that almost all of the work
depends on technology.
15
This type of involvement of children with technological tools enabled them to transform
into technological ways of learning that can help them excel in their academic activities, among
other things.
Impact of technology in Learning, using digital devices makes it hard to focus on the
goal when there are a lot of distractions, like games, social media and many more.Shivakumar
and Manichander (2013) discuss education within the 21st century and how technology is a
powerful tool for students. They emphasized collaborating with one another and incorporation of
blended learning, as well as information and communication technologies." At first, gadgets are
really used for entertainment and communications, it is difficult for youngsters to adjust and
adopt this routine where they are receiving mail and messages while having their time for fun.
For those who find excitement in using these tools as their new way of learning, this method can
exchanging knowledge and information to their fellow students. Despite the hurdles, with
education technology, students can access online information more easily while learning itself is
more reliant on multimedia than ever before. Technology offers the potential to unlock the doors
to learning for all learners including the enhancement of student learning and engagement.
ICT competencies of a teacher. Kozma (2005) has confirmed that ICT can help deepen
students’ content knowledge, engage them in constructing their knowledge and support the
development of complex thinking skills. He reported that ICT alone cannot create this kind of
teaching and learning environment. Teachers must know how to structure lessons, select
16
resources; guide activities and support the learning process, many traditionally trained are not
Quality learning is not created by technology; rather, it is created by having access to appropriate
and timely learning opportunities that are planned by the instructor and delivered through
technology.
Related Studies
The following are the studies culled in the study to shed light on the problem being
undertaken.
According to Ashby (1999), the institutions of society are not adapting themselves to the
increases, as the order of magnitude of events which makes the pressure of our present values
become intolerable – the recent advances in technology are having unpredicted and alarming
both students and faculty. The quality of education to students will be improved overall. Better
ways of teaching result in good ways of learning, according to Ashby (1999). The use of
projectors, Internet, tele-course, video, and coaching the inexperienced faculty will invigorate
and improve our faculty performance, thereby improving the standard of education in our school
as explained by Ashby (1999). In the world of today, technology plays a vital role in education
compared to yesterday. Chalk and blackboards have been replaced with marker pens, screen,
videos, and projectors. The use of technology will elevate the mode of teaching and eliminate
fatigue that leads to monotonous job functions. Faculty would be able to have less time in
17
preparing lesson notes and have more spare time to spend on research and other administrative
better prepared for courses outside their specialization and will ease the burden of teaching
overload. The encouragement of faculty to use technology to teach their courses allows faculty to
enhance their skills and knowledge to perform in their subjects and courses outside the field of
their specialization according to Smith (2000). From personal experiences and theoretical
observations of the use of technology rather than manpower at some institutions, the use of
technology makes people capable mentally, physically, and emotionally of achieving their goals.
Considering these benefits, it may make faculty resistant to fatigue, distraction, and embellish
their performance.
generally means a technology-based teaching and learning process that closely relates to the
utilization of learning technologies in schools" states that, because students are familiar with
technology and will learn better in a technology-based environment, the issue of ICT integration
in schools, specifically in the classroom, is critical. The use of ICT will lead to successful
learning with the aid and support of ICT elements and components, because the use of
technology-based tools and resources may help students study nearly all courses more
successfully, including mathematics, physics, languages, arts, humanities, and other key areas.
Furthermore, when it comes to efficient learning with the use of computers as learning aids, ICT
gives assistance and complementary support for both instructors and students. Computers and
technology, according to Jorge et al. (2003), are not meant to be replacements for good
18
instructors; rather, they are meant to be add-on supplements for improved teaching and learning.
The need for ICT integration in education is vital since, with the assistance of technology,
teaching and learning are not just happening in the school setting but may also happen even if

Generally, the category decision about the benefits of technology in the ICT competencies
of teachers and students is reflected in an equal code. It is both effective and efficient. The
finding supported the study of Jamieson-Procter et al. (2013), "ICT integration in education
generally means a technology-based teaching and learning process that closely relates to the
utilization of learning technologies in schools". Students will become more familiar with

Generally, the category decision about the impact of technology in learning is reflected
on the students. Adapting to technology as a new learning instrument has shifted how students
learned things. The findings supported the study of Thomson et al. (2014) "The Introduction of

accessible answers to every question. It also allowed learners to think outside the box, it made
them more creative.it also catches their attention, and become more attentive to the class.
Students are really the ones who have been impacted by technology in learning because
they are the ones that are using the technology in their learning.

Recommendation
1. The students are recommended to use the new technology, especially the internet, properly for
them to get the benefits that they need in their studies. They also must be responsible in using it
2. The students and school faculty members must have access to the products of technology
especially in computers in order for them to be more aware and familiar on how to use it in their
teaching and learning process. Also, it is recommended for the school to have an internet
connection inside the school premises in order for the students and faculty members to easily
access the different websites or online learning platforms that can help them in their studies and
work.
3. Teachers are recommended to work with parents of their students in frequently monitoring
how students use gadgets and the internet. They also must have the authority over the students in
setting the limit on how, when, and where they will use it.
60
4. Teachers must have additional time for tutorial in terms of using technology in studying. That
tutorial will be for those students who are having a hard time to cope up in the learning process
using technology.
