Cyclone Questionnaire

1) The document is a questionnaire from AerodyneUS regarding a cyclone dust collector application. It contains 16 questions seeking details about the project name, dust generation process, existing equipment, airflow and pressure parameters, solids properties, desired removal efficiency, space and design constraints, materials requirements, and project timing. 2) Questions seek information such as airflow and temperature, solids flow rate and properties, desired removal efficiency, materials of construction, electrical and pneumatic supply available, and whether this is an existing application or new design. 3) The document provides welding specifications for carbon steel and stainless steel cyclones and notes that on-site pilot testing is available to evaluate performance.

Cyclone Questionnaire

The following questions will help us quote the cyclone dust collector for your
application. Please fill out the questionnaire and return to us or call Sales at 440-543-
7400 to discuss your application.

1) What is the Project Name?

2) Where is the dust coming from? Please explain the process before and after the
cyclone.

3) Is there a baghouse, cartridge collector, wet scrubber, or ESP dust collector after
the cyclone?
a. If so, how often do you clean or replace the filters?
b. What is the maximum pressure drop for the cyclone your fan can handle
(inches of W.C.)?
c. Are you having any operational problems with the dust collector? If so,
please describe.

4) Please provide the following

a. Airflow (ACFM)
b. Temperature (°F)
c. Pressure/Vacuum available on fan (in W.C.)
d. Humidity

5) Please describe the solids

a. Flow rate (lbs./hr. or ft3/hr.)
b. Density of the solids (lbs./ft3)(required if lbs./hr. provided)
c. Are the solids (abrasive, corrosive, toxic, sticky, hygroscopic, granular,
powder, fragile, friable?
d. Do the solids bridge?
e. Particle size distribution if available

f. How would you describe the solids? (ex. Similar to sand, flour, etc.) Do
you have a picture?
g. Is the dust explosive? If yes, what is the Kst and Pmax of it?
h. If explosive, what type of explosion protection do you want? Do you want
Aerodyne to supply it?

6) What removal efficiency are you looking for the cyclone to do? What would you
consider a success?

7) Do you have space restrictions? Do you prefer vertical or horizontal design?

8) What type of discharge valve do you want?

(Rotary, Vacu-valve, double dump, knife/slide gate)

9) What materials of construction do you want?

(Painted carbon steel, 304 SS, 316 SS, other)

10) What class welding do you want? (see last page)

11) How often will you need to clean the cyclone? Do you need an easy clean
design?

12) What scope of supply do you want?

(Cyclone, fan, discharge valve, support steel, differential pressure gage, etc.)

13) What electrical supply is available? Is Pneumatic air available?

14) Is this an existing application?

a) If so, what are you using now?
b) Why are you changing?
c) Are there any parameters we should know about?

15) Is there any other information that would be helpful? (Pictures, sketches, etc.)

16) Are you thinking about a GPC or SplitStream Collector?

17) What is the timing of this project?
