Esser Tool 8000 Networking

This document provides important information about security networks, including: 1) Only one fire department operating panel should be used per network for safety, but they can be connected to any network panel. 2) Network connection lines must be installed separately to avoid interference. Repeaters can be used to extend the maximum cable length between devices to 3,000 meters. 3) Possible error sources include interruptions in cables, damage to cables from bending, incorrect micromodule programming, addresses not matching, cables being too long, and devices in reset mode. 4) Network and device properties are displayed, including transmission rates and identifiers. Zone ranges are also programmed to prevent conflicts across panels.

Important information about the security network

Fire department operating panel in the network:

For safety reasons only one fire department operating panel should be operated within a network. However, you can connect fire department operating panels to any network panel. If a
second fire department operating panel is programmed in the network a warning is issued that the programming may only be carried out with the prior consent of the Technical Sales
Office.

General information for installation:

Ingoing and outgoing lines of the network connection must always be installed separate from one another, i.e. not in a multipair cable or in a raceway. Joint installation can have a negative
effect on the function or, if the cable/raceway is destroyed, this can lead to failure in the connection due to separation of the ingoing and outgoing lines.
Repeaters can be installed in distances of more than 1,000 metres between two network devices. A maximum of two repeaters are permissible between two devices. Each repeater can be
used to bridge a cable length of 1,000m. This produces a maximum cable length of 3,000m between two devices.

Possible error sources in the installation of the security network:

l Interruptions or rotating fields in the network connecting cables.

l Damage to the LAN cable (500kB, module type II) due to unauthorised bending radiuses.

l Incorrect setting of the eight coding bridges for the security network micromodule wiring in the FACP.

l Incorrect setting of the network address on the DIL or rotary switch of the network micromodule
(display: SYS fault network panel: xx), red LED is lit on the network micromodule.
The address of the micromodule starts from "0", the panel address starts from "1".
The panel with address "1" contains the network micromodule with the address "0" etc.

l Cable too long or attenuation too high. Typical loop resistances for cable lengths: IBM cable type I
approx. 100 Ohm/km, or I-Y (St) Y 0.8 approx. 70 Ohm/km.

l The panel or the unrecognised device is in emergency mode or switch on mode, e.g. after a reset.

l Panel or network device has no voltage or connection line is separated on both sides.

The configured network micromodule type can also be changed later in the panel configuration of the corresponding fire alarm control panel. However, you must make sure that the
programmed network type also corresponds to the micromodule type in the slot.

Network I (62.5 kBd):
Activate this check box if you wish to set up a network type I with a rate of transmission of 62.5 k baud. However, please remember that

On this dialog page the zone ranges for a networked FACP system are shown in a table and programmed for all FACPs. This prevents the threat of lost messages due to different entries in

For the unique identification of detector and control zones within a security network, detector and control zone numbers may only be assigned once.

If a new intruder alarm panel is to be integrated into an existing security network, the new programming must be adapted if necessary to existing area, device, detector and control zone
ranges. A maximum of 9999 detector and control zones can be programmed in a System 8000 FACP.

Settings for security network: Communication groups

In special cases the network can be split into two or more areas. This allows separate operating and display areas to be mapped on a network. Depending on the panel category that is
programmed, various transmission and receiving authorisations for the communication groups are connected. Slave Panels (SP) cannot be programmed among one another as
communication groups.

The Communication groups data sheet must be filled in identically in all networked panels. If the data sheets of the networked FACPs are not filled in identically, no data can be exchanged
and there is a possibility that messages can be lost.

The matrix of the tools8000 customer data editor is pre-programmed in such a way that all panels can communicate with one another. Readiness to communicate between the panels is
shown by a green area on the crossing point of the matrix. The communication groups can only be selected in the permissible fields of the matrix.
If an existing communication matrix between two panels is to be cancelled, mark the crossing point on the matrix with the mouse. The communication readiness is cancelled and this is
shown by the red area on the crossing points.

If customer data from a previously programmed panel is loaded, the current status of all communication groups is displayed.

When exiting the Communication groups data sheet or when programming the panel a plausibility check is carried out. A corresponding warning is displayed if not all panels have a
communication group. However, depending on the application it is not always necessary that a FACP has a communication group.

Network Panel in the security network

The panel category can be defined in the customer data programming of System 8000 FACP. Depending on the panel category various operating and display possibilities are available in
the network.

A Network Panel receives status messages such as fire or fault from every device and sends status messages that occur locally to all the other devices in the security network. Operations
are only permitted from other Network Panels or master panels, but all other devices in the network can be operated from a Network Panel. The panel category can be selected in the
Settings for the security network dialog to suit requirements.

Example:

Home > Security network > Panels in the security network > Panel category > Master Panel (MP)

Master panel (MP) in the security network

A master panel receives status messages such as fire or fault from every device, but only sends local status messages to master and Network Panels. A master panel only accepts
conditions from Network Panels, while all network panels and slave panels can be operated from the master panel. The panel category can be selected in the Settings for the security
network dialog, to suit requirements.

requirements.

Devices in the network: Net Devices

The System 8000 FACPs can be operated in a short circuit and interruption-tolerant security network by means of the network micromodule. The network can consist of 31 devices
maximally. Every network device must be programmed with the panel number that is set on the network micromodule. It is possible to use network micromodules with different hardware
status in the network. But you should make sure that you only use network micromodules with the same transmission speed.

A special command menu can be opened for every network device with the dialog/object-related mouse side-click menu. The commands are only coordinated for the network device and
are selected with the mouse.

The network supports a cross-network display of messages and the activation of control zones for network devices, depending on the selected panel category Network Panel (NP), Master

Edit SP 300X-Module: Properties

The SP 300X module is used to connect a 3007/3008 panel either via RS232 (V.24) or TTY format (20mA). The serial interface micromodule can only be operated on the extension card. Up
to seven 3007/3008 panels can be supported on one gateway.
