WESTERN STAR
Automated manual transmissions combine the best features of manual and automatic transmissions.
Manual transmissions are lighter than conventional automatic transmissions and suffer fewer energy losses.

AMT operates similarly to a manual transmission except that it does not require clutch
actuation or shifting by the driver. Automatic shifting is controlled electronically (shift-by-wire)
and performed by a hydraulic system or electric motor.

AUTOSHIFT PLUS

The AutoShift® transmission is an advanced shift-by-wire


system consisting of a Fuller® heavy-duty transmission communicating
with an electronic engine utilizing the SAE-J1939
protocol for precise control of the engine and transmission
functions. The clutch is used only for starting and stopping.
Once the vehicle is in motion, AutoShift operates like
an automatic transmission, with the efficiency of a manual
transmission.

Module 79U has sales codes used by customers to define the ramp rate of the PTO mode governor when the Cruise Control switches are used
for controlling the PTO mode governor. Module 79U may also contain IDD selection charts containing the correct data for configuring engine controllers.

The PTO governor ramp rate setting affects the rate of change of the engine RPM when Cruise Control switches are used for controlling the engine speed.
The ramp rate should generally be set to lower values when a split-shaft (driveline mounted) PTO is used to prevent excessive shock to the driveline and PTO.

79U Performance Verification:


The setting of the PTO governor ramp rate parameter can be verified when the PTO governor is activated by Cruise Control switches. When the Set or Resume switch is
held on, the engine RPM should increase by the value of the ramp rate parameter for each 1-second time increment that the switch is held.

Module 79T has sales codes used by customers to define the increment by which engine RPM will change when the PTO mode governor is active and either the Cruise
Control Set switch or Cruise Control Resume switch is pressed momentarily.

Performance:
Correct operation of this feature can be verified by activating the engine's PTO mode governor with the Cruise Control switches. Once a speed has been set, a momentary press of
either the Set or Resume switch will change the engine RPM by the amount set with this parameter. Note that if the engine is operating at or close to the minimum or maximum engine
RPM for the PTO mode governor, the RPM change may be lower than the setting of this parameter.
At this time, this parameter only applies to Detroit Diesel and Mercedes engines. Cummins engines do not support a "bump up/bump down" feature.

79T Performance Verification:


The setting of the PTO mode Cruise RPM increment parameter can be verified when Cab PTO Mode is enabled. Turn on the Cruise Control master switch and then press the
Set switch momentarily. Then, press the Resume switch momentarily, and the engine RPM should go up by the value programmed to the increment parameter.
