Polynomial Curve Fitting

1) Polynomial curve fitting involves finding the best fitting polynomial curve to a set of data points. Overfitting and underfitting can occur if too high or low of a degree polynomial is used. 2) A 3rd degree polynomial curve was constructed to fit the points (0,0), (-1,1), (1,1). The polynomial function was determined to be f(x) = 1 - 0.66x + 1.33x^2. 3) A 2nd degree polynomial curve was constructed to fit the points (5,-4), (-3,8), (-1,2). The polynomial function was determined to be f(x) = 5 - 8x - 0.
