Project Management South Asia Conference 2023

The PMI Chennai Chapter is hosting the 2023 Project Management South Asia Conference in Chennai! This two-days-project-
management-conclave is on the theme “Innovation in Action: Connecting Humans and Technology “, which is congruent
with the current situation. To ensure effective coordination and planning, the organizing committee is dedicating significant time to
meetings. We are conducting fortnightly meetings initially and will transition to monthly physical and teleconference meetings as
the event approaches. The committee is currently in the process of shortlisting keynote speakers from a pool of over 100 eminent
speakers. They are also finalizing the topics for the workshops. Additionally, parallel tracks are being planned to accommodate
more sessions on project management processes and best practices.

To keep interested individuals informed about the event, the organizing committee will be disseminating event details through
social media handles and email communications. We’re looking forward to having 1000 participants for this event. Please plan to
attend and be part of this great event of the year, #PMSAC23. Participating in the Project Management South Asia Conference

PHYSIOTHERAPY FOR HEALTHY LIVING BY DR. G. YUVARANI, MPT, MIAP, MHCPC
The speaker, Dr. G. Yuvarani, MPT, MIAP, MHCPC, who is an Associate Professor at Dr. MGR Educational & Research
Institute, gave an insightful introduction to the 'Quality of Life' - the need of the hour. She then discussed the significance of
health and wellness and topics such as fitness, occupational injuries, and ergonomics. Despite knowing how important health is,
we don't pay much attention to it most of the time. At the start of the session, there was a personal narrative about how
prolonged sitting impacted the cervical bones and how physiotherapy helps prevent additional spine injury.

Dr. G.Yuvarani, focussed on "Musculoskeletal Diseases (MSD)". One of the key takeaways was the lifecycle transition of a
disease- Disease, Disorder, and Disability. She wrapped up her presentation with Geriatric Physiotherapy - Senior Citizen
Wellness and the Role of the Physiotherapist in Global Health. It was one of the most engaging and longest-spanning sessions
we had in recent times. In this fast-paced, digitally-driven society, this was an informative, eye-opening, and much-needed
discussion. Let's take care! We've got only one life to live!!

LET'S UNLOCK THE POWER OF INTELLIGENT PROCESS AUTOMATION BY MS. DHANA MANI, PMP®, ITIL®,
CSM, SAFE AGILIST

On a pleasant day, when the clouds had muted the scorching sun, we made it to our KSS, peacefully enjoying the weather. It was an
emerging topic "Let's Unlock the Power of Intelligent Process Automation", at the Anna Centenary Library Hall. Mrs. Dhana Mani,
PMP®, ITIL®, CSM, SAFe Agilist, began the session with a few basic automation questions, to which she received a variety of
responses from the audience, who had varying exposure to automation and represented various industries.

Mrs. Dhana discussed the nuances of automation, including "why, when, and how to do it"; customer expectations, and providing a
value-driven and scalable solution.

4| PMI TAMIZHAGAM | JUNE 2023

Mrs. Dhana briefly covered various items in this session related to automation viz.,

End to end Automation methodologies

Stakeholders support required to make the automation project a success
Value Discovery
Process mining
The power of automation
Savings, reality, various automation tools, examples with human loop required
Predictive analysis
Threats of data exposure in the Cloud
Use cases
Success stories
Caution items and Ethics

This session's key takeaways deepened our understanding of the purpose of automation, types of automation, risks involved, and
positive and negative impacts. It helped us realize that automation cannot completely replace humans because it cannot provide
human judgment, supervision, or tasking. Thanks to Ms. Dhana Mani, our volunteers, and the audience for their time, support, and
participation in making this event a success.

INTRODUCTION TO DISCIPLINED AGILE BY DR. S. CHANDRAMOULI, PH.D., PFMP, PMI-ACP

The second workshop of the year, “Introduction to Disciplined Agile”, began with a novel icebreaker. The icebreaker game
entailed a coin toss by four people, in different permutations. First, each individual tossed at their own speed. Then, as a team, the
same individuals tossed in a relay; each one tossed a coin almost at the same time. The audience was surprised by the positive
outcome due to teamwork.

The icebreaker at the start of the session by Dr. S. Chandramouli, Ph.D., PfMP, PMI-ACP, was unique and thought-provoking.
The trainer explained the project management ideas behind this game, and this practical example kept the participants immersed
in the session.

Dr. S. Chandramouli covered the basics of Agile and then talked about Disciplined Agile. The major focus of this program was on
the “Way-of-Working”. The participants learned several techniques, from building and supporting a Disciplined Agile team to
choosing a way of working that is tailored to individual projects or organizations’ needs.

He explained in detail the three areas of ‘way-of-working’, especially, tailoring a fit-for-purpose solution: initiating a team,
building a solution, and deploying a solution. While the participants learned how to influence within and outside the team, the
key takeaway from this session was "how to improve the way of working'. We learned that we need to ensure that the team
continuously improves, succeeds, and has fun doing so.

With a lot of experience sharing and practical guidelines, Dr. S. Chandramouli ended this full-day in-person program on a high
note. It was truly an Agile-and-Beyond day for all the participants!
