Depression:
Depression is a common and serious medical illness that
negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act.
Causes of depression:
Depression can happen as a reaction to
something like abuse, violence in school, the death of someone close
or family problems like domestic violence or family breakdown,
harmonal or seasonal chanes.
Someone might get depressed after being stressed for a long time.

Physical:
• Tiredness or low energy, even when rested
• Restlessness or difficulty concentrating
• Difficulty in carrying out daily activities
• Changes in appetite or sleep patterns
• Aches or pains that have no obvious cause
Emotional and mental:
• Persistent sadness, anxiousness or irritability
• Loss of interest in friends and activities that they normally enjoy
• Withdrawal from others and loneliness
• Feelings of worthlessness, hopelessness or guilt
• Self-harming or suicidal thoughts
The individual must be experiencing five or more symptoms during the same
2-week period and at least one of the symptoms should be either (1) depressed
mood or (2) loss of interest or pleasure.

in depression.
• Dopmine:
A dopamine imbalance can cause depression
symptoms, such as feelings of hopelessness.
• Serotonin:
A serotonin imbalance can affect the processing of
emotions. Serotonin syndrome occurs when someone has an excess
of the neurotransmitter serotonin in their nervous system. The
condition's symptoms generally fall into three categories:
(irritability, restlessness, and anxiety).
