    BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

    The capital of the country is Metro Manila, which is renowned for its bustling urban lifestyle and numerous
    tourist attractions. Nonetheless, the nation's capital is also troubled by persistent traffic problems and road
    challenges, including traffic congestion brought on by deteriorated roads, potholes, and incomplete or shoddy road
    repairs caused by inferior materials, among a variety of other reasons. Research conducted by a UK financial services
    platform earlier this year is referenced in a Philkotse post, thereby placing the Philippines in the top 10 nations with
    the "lowest quality roads. And millions of people in Metro Manila are impacted by the traffic, from employees
    attempting to be on time for work to students heading to their institutions for classes. The social implications of traffic
    congestion are apparent; studies suggest that the average Filipino wastes 28,000 hours in traffic each year, or
    approximately 188 hours per year, delayed in rush hour traffic. This indicates that more than 10% of your working
    years are lost to traffic. The average productive life of an individual is 30 years. Regrettably, that is just the very
    beginning. The terrible everyday traffic situation in Manila results in a plethora of additional fees and issues. In
    addition to these issues, Manila traffic also has an impact on security, the economy, and the efficient use of the
    nation's most vital resources. The loss to the nation as a result of traffic was assessed at PHP2.4 billion in 2014 by the
    Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Since the traffic issue has not yet been resolved, it is expected that the
    losses would have substantially grown by 2022. These are some ways that Manila traffic may be more harmful than
    you think.
    OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

    The traffic congestion in Metro Manila and other major cities in the Philippines has deteriorated, according to The
    Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI). With Metro Manila being subjected to hellish traffic conditions,
    local government units, as well as traffic authorities, have experimented with various solutions to decongesting traffic
    in Metro Manila. Although Metro Manila's traffic congestion has been an issue for some time, there are certain ways
    that can assist ease it through strategic monitoring, stronger governmental regulations, and improved transportation
    systems. These are a few potential ideas that the government and residents might implement to further reduce traffic
    in Metro Manila, even if decongesting the city may be a problem that will take years to fix. There is an effort but the
    traditional solution of more infrastructure did not do it because the implementation is very slow and we have a
    backlog of necessary infrastructure not built for the last four decades," Rene Santiago, engineer, and urban transport
    expert, The Exchange. Our capacity to add infrastructure is very slow compared to the growth in traffic.
