DLL Week 4 Day 5

The daily lesson log summarizes a science class for 10th grade students on plate tectonics. The objectives were to describe the distribution of volcanoes, earthquakes and mountains in relation to plate tectonic theory and the different plate boundaries. The teacher administered a weekly test, discussed challenges and reviewed concepts. Geological processes occur at plate boundaries where plates collide, move apart or slide past each other.

Teacher Allynn A. Junio Learning Area Science

Teaching Date Quarter First

Day 5
7:30 – 8:30
Time and Section
I. OBJECTIVES

Content Standard The learners demonstrate an understanding of the

relationship among the locations of volcanoes,
earthquake epicenters and mountain ranges
Performance Standard The learners should be able to:
1. Demonstrate ways to ensure disaster preparedness
during earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanic
eruptions.
2. Suggest ways by which he/she ca contribute to
government efforts in reducing damage due to
earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions.
Learning Competency 1. Describe and relate the distribution of active
volcanoes, earthquake epicenters, and major
mountain belts to Plate Tectonic Theory.
2. Describe the different types of plate boundaries.
3. Explain the different processes that occur along the
plate boundaries.

A. Review previous lesson or Start the day by doing daily usual routines.
presenting the new lesson

B. Establishing a purpose for Conduct a short review on the previous lessons by

the lesson asking the following questions:

What are the different types of plate boundary?

What are the three types of convergent plate boundary?
What are the geologic features formed in each type of
plate boundary?
C. Presenting examples/ Emphasize to the students to observe the basic
instances of the new lesson standards in taking the test.

The teacher will distribute a copy of the weekly test

papers to the students./ The teacher may also state the
questions orally or project on a wider screen using slide
presentations

D. Discussing new concepts and The teacher may have the option of asking the students
practicing new skills to exchange papers during checking.

Ask the students the following questions:

1. Which part of the test that you find hard to answer?

2. What difficulties did you encounter while taking the

test?
3. Which part of the test you did well?

E. Discussing new concepts and On this part of the lesson, the teacher will facilitate the
practicing new skills #2 learning gaps encountered by the students while taking
the test.

The discussion will depend on the items which has

higher frequency of error.

affectivity and reliability of implementing the test.
