Group Assignment 1: Due February 25, 2022

Video Report Option
Worth 10% of the Final Grade

For this assignment, you will be working in groups to solve a business problem, using the
Rational Decision-Making Model. Specific guidelines are provided below. You will submit a
video report when you finish the analysis.

There is an option to submit a written report for this assignment. If your group would like to
submit a written report instead, use the other attachment for that option.

Detailed Guidelines for the Video Report

Use this link http://www.cbc.ca/dragonsden/episodes/ to access full episodes of the CBC

Dragon's Den program.

Your group should then select three or four episodes that are of interest to members.
After watching the selected videos, choose one episode in which the business idea
presented by the entrepreneur, was rejected by the Dragons.

Note: All group members should help in choosing the episode for the assignment

Once all group members agree on the video to use, follow the steps below to analyze
the business idea rejected by the Dragons, and then create a video report for
submission.

Here’re the requirements for your video Report:

- Introduce your video report with a summary of the Dragon’s Den episode
you used for the assignment. Also, remember to mention the name of the
course, the name of the college, the names of your group members and
the date of the assignment.
- Mention and explain one major problem which made the Dragons reject
the business idea (i.e. Identify the main problem which the business
owner should resolve).
- Mention and analyze at least two alternative solutions which the
entrepreneur(s) could use to address the problem identified in step 2
above. Remember to discuss at least two pros and two cons of each
alternative solution you identify.
- Discuss the best option of the two alternative solutions discussed in step
Remember to have a strong/convincing argument to support your choice.
- Provide a convincing conclusion in the video, explaining why the new
solution/plan will help the business to be more successful. The conclusion
should be in the form of a pitch which the entrepreneur can use to
persuade the Dragons for a second chance.
- Add all the sections in a coherent manner, with each part clearly
discussed. Edit your video and make sure it has all the parts in the right
order. Submit it for grading.

To submit the link to your video on Blackboard, click on “Assignment” on the top of this page,
then scroll down to the submission area where you can submit the link to your video. Only one
link should be submitted by the group.

Please Note: As mention earlier, there’s an option to submit your work in the form of a written
report. If your group prefers that option, use the written report guidelines attached.

Formatting and Other Requirements:

1. The video should not exceed 30 minutes.

Peer Evaluation

As indicated in the requirements section above, each group member MUST complete a
confidential peer evaluation to assess the performance of each peer in the project. Any group
member who fails to submit a completed peer evaluation, will automatically lose 1% of the
assignment mark.

The professor will explain (in class) how the peer evaluation score is factored into the final
assignment grade for each member of the group.

Any member who does not contribute as expected and receives a low score from peers, will end
up with a lower grade in the assignment, than others who participated fully.

Evaluation Form

Copy and paste this form for each member of the group and complete them fully for submission.
For example, if there are four members in the group, each member will copy and paste 4 of the
forms in one document, fill them out and submit that document to the professor by email.
