Let’s practise!

Time: 45 minutes

Materials:

● Whiteboard and pen.

General notes:

● Speed: For this level, speed is really important. Speed will be decided based on
student age, the younger the slower. Speed will also depend on the students’
characteristics.
● TPR: Using TPR is really important to motivate the student and using puppets,
flashcards as required will help to motivate the student.
● Pronunciation: For ESL student, correcting pronunciation is really important and
teachers should correct during the class.
● The teacher should appraise the student or correct positively frequently.
● If the student cannot answer, the teacher can mouth then say out loud to help.
● If the student cannot concentrate, the teacher can use TPR.

!!! Please make sure that the student tool mode is off during class. It should be granted
for students above 8 years old only when solving a quiz. For writing activities, please

ask the student to write on a sheet of paper or a board.

Evaluate the student performance after class (for teachers): Please spare five minutes to
fill in the performance evaluation for the student via Kynaforkids Teacher’s App. This is
compulsory in order to finish the class. Please be noticed that the form should be filled in for
each class within 24 hours.
TEACHING TECHNIQUES & TPR:

(1 min)

1. Teacher introduces himself or herself; ask for student's name


- Teacher introduces his/her name
- Teacher asks ""What is your name?"" and helps the student to reply.
- Teacher exposes the student to ""How are you?"" - ""I'm fine!""

2. Introduce about rewards system


- Switch to the whiteboard with the Kani image, teacher: ""When you do a great job (point to
the student and thumb up), the rabbit gets a carrot.
What do Kani and her friends have for lunch at school?

(4 mins)

Teacher says: "Kani and her friends have good lunch at school today. Look at the pictures and
tell me what they have for lunch"

Teacher goes through picture by picture and asks student to talk about the food and drink.
Teacher can pick some words to ask student to spell them. E.g: Kani eats meatballs and
strawberry. She drinks lemonade.

Answer:

Teacher asks student to read all the names around the picture and correct student's
pronunciation if necessary.

Teacher plays the audio of the first conversation, pauses and asks student the answer, then
teacher draws lines from the name to the corresponding student in the picture. If student gives
the wrong answer, teacher can replay the audio for student to correct the answer.

Do the same for the rest.

Teacher plays the audio of the example first and shows the sample line. Then, teacher plays
the audio of each question, pauses and asks student to choose the colour and teacher draws
a line from the colour to the balloon. In case student's answer is incorrect, teacher needs to
play the audio for the second time.

Do the same for the rest.

Teacher says: "I'm looking for some places to go shopping. Look at the pictures and tell me
where the place is. Where is the bookshop?". Student is expected to say: "the bookshop is
next to the supermarket"

Teacher continues to ask for other places. Teacher should pick some words to ask student to
spell the words. Teacher can let student ask teacher the places and teacher gives answer.
