UNIT 1: PEOPLE AND RELATIONSHIP

PART 1:
1. Could you tell me something about your family?
=>Well, I live in a nuclear family with 4 members: my parents, my
younger brother, and me. We live in the countryside. My parents are
both farmers. My younger brother is a student. We are a close-knit
family.

2. What do you like doing most with your family?

=> I enjoy doing a variety of things with my family. However, I enjoy
eating a meal with the family. Because it was a moment when we
spent time together after a day to work and study. We can tell story
about what happened that day.

3. Who are you close to in your family?

=> I am the closest to my mother. I think it is because we are both
women in the family. So we can easily share ideas about everything.

4. In what way is your family important to you?

=> My family is the most important aspect of my life. My parents did
everything possible to bring up me and ensure my education well. The
family is a great source of motivation and helps me gain strength to
overcome all difficulties in life.

5. How would you describe yourself?

=> I would say that I’m friendly, it is not hard for someone to want to
talk with me. I love meeting new people and learning about their lives
and their backgrounds. I can almost always find common ground with
strangers.

6. Who do you take after (resemble) in your family?

=>I resemble both of my parents. In terms of appearance, I look like
my father, we both have a round face and a slightly chubby person. I
resemble my mother in personality. We are generous, careful, and
often help others.

7. Do you have a large or small family?

=> I come from a small family. I live with my parents and younger
brother.

8. Do you get along well with your family?

=> Sure, we get along very well with one another. They are the most
reliable people for me. I always turn to them to confide in. My parents
and younger brother are good listeners and give me advice. I am
happy to be a part of such a wonderful family.

9. How much time do you spend with your family?

=> I have been living in a city that is far from my family. On
holidays, when I go back home, I make sure to spend most of the time
with my parents. We just update ourselves on what is going on in our
lives.

10. Are people in your country generally close to their family?

=>Most people prefer to be with their family and do everything for
the family. However, there are exceptions to every rule. The
neighbors who live near us do not have a solid link among the
members of their family.

PART 2: Describe a family member:

I would surely take this opportunity to tell you about my beloved

mother, a woman whom I always respected. Her name is Nguyet.
She’s in her forties. Her appearance seems to blend in well with
women her age. Mom is a good listener who is always gentle and
patient with me. She gives me advice on what I have done wrong and
how to improve it. She is a caring and sensible person who always
takes care of our family and understands me. In addition, my mother
is also hard-working. I often cook with her. She is not only my parent
but also my best friend. Whenever I felt sad, I would just talk to her.
She is really a shoulder to cry on.. Mom will be a person beside me
when my ups and downs, and I am confident that I have a mother
delightful. And this is another thing that drives me to admire her so
much, as she can balance work and spending time with her family.
Therefore, I have always regarded my mom as my role model, as I
know I could learn a lot from her.

PART 3:
1. In what ways have families changed in the last hundred years?
=> Well, family connections have changed a lot in recent years. In the
past, extended families with many generation living together to
support and take care of each other. Besides, the main breadwinner of
family is men and women is homemaker stay at home and look after
their children. However, now nuclear families only parents and their
children. And both husbands and wives go to work and share the same
responsibility for bringing their children up as well as doing
housework.

2. Should we rely heavily on families or is it better to try to be

independent?
=> I believe that being independent does not controvert our reliance
on our family. Every single person should be economically and
personally independent at a certain age and should be close to family
at the same time. If independent means living separately and not
having a stong relationship with the family, I don’t want such
independence and freedom.
3. What can the younger generation learn from the older
generation?
=> There are too many things for us to learn from the elderly. Young
people can learn about their cultural heritage from older people who
may have a closer connection to traditional customs. Without this
constant learning from older generations, many aspects of culture
would be lost.
1. What do you expect from a good friend?
=> For me, a good friend has to be reliable to me can freely share
problem with them. A good friend needs to be a good listener who is
always willing to listen problems. Good friend don’t necessarily give
their friend a good advice, just be by their side and together go
through ups and downs.
2. Are friends as important to you as family?
=> To me, both are fairly important, but my family takes place in my
life that is dear to my heart. Friends may come and go, I know that my
family will always be there for me. Nevertheless, my friends are the
closest people with whom I can share and discuss things that
sometimes are not appropriate to bring up in the family circle.
3. Do you think friendships change as we get older? How?
=> Well, I definitely find that I have less in common with some
friends than I used to. I sometimes wonder what we used to find to
talk about. And so you often grow apart from old school friends or old
colleagues. The people I feel I have most in common with are friends
I met at university. I’m not sure
why but we somehow always have lots to talk about.

UNIT 3: STUDIES AND WORKS

PART 1:
1. Do you work or are you a student?
=> I’m a student at HCM City University of Industry and Trade.
Majoring in English linguistics. Now I can’t believe I was able to gain
admission to the University because it’s so competitive.
2. Why did you choose that major?
=> The reason why I decided on English linguistics is that it makes
me more skilled in reading, writing, and communicating. I believe
English is a tool that helps me have a good job in the future. So I
think it is the best major for me.

3. What is the most difficult thing about your studies?

=> At secondary school, the most difficult subject for me was
Chemistry. I can’t stand Science, and I would dread every lesson! I
struggled in Chemistry lessons. I had to work hard to pass my exam.
For some reason, I just couldn’t remember all those chemical symbols
and equations

4. What do you learn while studying your major?

=> I have to take courses in grammar, pronunciation, phonetics, and
phonology. Since I’m majoring in English linguistics, I have to study
a lot of variety subjects. I think that will give me the skills I need to
get a job after graduation.

5. What are you going to do after graduation?

=> I’m not sure what job I will do after graduation. A job I want to do
changes as I grow older. Maybe I will study my major or the second
language at school more deeply. So I can get a job with a high salary.

6. Who was your favorite teacher when you were in high school?
=> When I was in high school, my favorite teacher was Ms Thuy,
who was my English teacher. I can describe her as a person who has a
heart of gold and always puts students first. She is also inspired me
to have a passion for learning English.

7. Do you like teaching?

=> I enjoy teaching. I think that teaching is a respectable profession,
and I suppose that teaching is a great way to share knowledge and
experience with others.
8. What did you do like about school when you were young?
=>The most amazing thing about my school is the teachers. I mean,
they are patient, competent and supportive so I often turn to them for
sound advice. Although the facilities in my school are not modern, it
doesn’t affect us much because of great support from the teachers.

9. What subject was the most difficult for you?

=> The most difficult subject for me was Chemistry. I can’t stand
Science, and I would dread every lesson! I struggled in Chemistry
lessons, and I had to work hard to pass my exam. For some reason, I
just couldn’t remember all those chemical symbols and equations
10. What was your favorite subject?
=>English is one of my favorite subjects. This is a compulsory subject
for students from grade 3 . Today, English is more and more popular,
so English is a very important subject and must be learned. I think
English will bring many opportunities for me in the future.

PART 2: Describe my dream job

I have always wanted to become an English teacher, which is one of

the most essential /ɪˈsen.ʃəl/ and dispensable occupations /ˌɒk.jə
ˈpeɪ.ʃən/ in human life.

In order to become a professional English teacher, I would have to

obtain a bachelor's degree in English linguistics and a certificate of
teaching. More than that, this job requires me to have
patience because I need to meet a lot of different students who come
from different backgrounds and have various personalities. That is
why social skills are critical/ˈkrɪt.ɪ.kəl.i/ important. In addition, a
teacher should have excellent /ˈek.səl.ənt/ communication,
interpersonal skills

Teaching English involves research on methods of learning and

teaching a language. then applying the right one in specific cases.
Teachers also prepare material and activities for the class to make
sure that contents will be delivered /dɪˈlɪv.ər/ on time, say 45 minutes
or one hour, and most importantly, students will be engaged /ɪn
ˈɡeɪdʒd/ in the lesson. On top of that, assign homework, and exams
are needed to check students’ progress and make any changes if
necessary.

I like this job for several reasons:

First of all, I can meet many students who always have a story to tell,
and I believe we can learn something from them, like life experience.

And , English tends to be the most popular language in the world, so

in my opinion, people need to learn it. I think that teachers have a
very convenient /kənˈviː.ni.ənt/ schedule, so I can spend more time
with myself and my family than with some other jobs.

PART 3:
1. Do you think science subjects are more useful than arts
subjects?
=>I think they are more useful because they are primarily concerned
with practical matters. If you study science, you might, for example,
go on to have some kind of technical role in the production of a
device, like a computer or a car. However, all great leaders have
studied more arty subjects, such as philosophy, history and
economics. This makes them better leaders because they have an
understanding of human nature.

2. Are students mature enough to choose what to study themselves

or should their parents decide for them?
=>→ Once a person reaches the age of sixteen or even eighteen, they
are certainly mature enough to
choose what they should study. A parent can certainly give guidance
in this matter, but it is ridiculous to think that they could command
what a young man or woman must do. This is old-fashioned thinking
and really quite regressive Young adults must make the decisions that
shape their own lives.

3. In your country, does having a university education help you

have a better career?
=> It certainly helps, as it does in almost any country, but it is not
essential. Most people want to go to university and that’s because it
can give them the qualifications to get a higher level of employment.
Government statistics show that university graduates earn far more
than high school graduates on average. However, some trades are
actually more profitable and let
you enter the workforce and gain experience earlier.
1. What are the most popular jobs for young people in your
country?
=> Well, it depends.
For men, I feel that they are more likely to be concerned about fields
where they believe they will be successful sooner or later, such as
banking, IT, engineering, and construction.
Yet, for women, I guess they tend to focus more on job satisfaction.
Quite a number of girls dream of working in areas that are related to
fashion or modern lifestyles, including fashion design, textiles,
hospitality sector, or even entertainment business.
For both, I think that being in business is pretty attractive because
young people nowadays desire financial freedom so that they can
enjoy their favourite lifestyle and do whatever they want.
2. What factors will people consider when seeking a job?
=> Personally, I believe that there is a variety of factors people will
consider when hunting for a job.
Firstly, salary is the essential one that most people will consider since
they believe that their value can be judged by what they are paid.
More importantly, working environment is also vital simply because
people need to make sure that they will do their work in environments
comfortable and colleagues-friendly.

3. Do you think that more and more people will work at home?
=> The Internet has become an important part of modern life. Using
internet-based technologies for work and study while staying has
become very common. The most important benefit of this trend is that
it saves time and money of employees. This is because they do not
need to waste time going and coming from work. Furthermore, they
can set own timetable of work.

UNIT 5: COMMUNICATION
PART 1:
1. What’s your mother tongue?
=>My mother tongue is Vietnamese. Besides, I can speak English at a
conversational level. When I speak a language, I feel like I am part of
that culture. For instance, when I speak English, I usually get straight
to the point while the Vietnamese often beat around the bush.

2. What other languages do you speak?

=> You know, as a native Vietnamese speaker, I am fluent in
Vietnamese. I also speak English and Chinese, which I learned
through language schools and self-study.
3. Do you think learning languages is important?
=> I think that learning a language can improve your life. It can
improve your chances of getting a job. In addition to helping you
interact with people from all backgrounds. Learning a language also
provides cognitive benefits such as improving memory and critical
thinking skills.

4. Do you think that English is difficult to learn?

=> I think that learning any language can be challenging, and English
is no exception. One of the challenges with English is its complex
grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. Maybe easy to learn, but it
takes quite a long time to practice using the language fluently.

5. Why did you learn English?

=> Back when I was in secondary school, English was a compulsory
subject in my curriculum. So, we’re left with no choice but to study
English. Growing up I realized that English is the most widely used
language, it opens up many opportunities for jobs and makes me more
attractive in the eyes of employers.

6. How do you learn English?

=> I have a website to research new words and then write them down
in a notebook. I try to use these new words in conversation, it’s a
great way to learn and memorize the terms learned. I also learning
English from watching TV shows, or movies in English.

7. Do you think a foreigner should learn your country’s language

when they arrive there?
=> Yes. Since language is an integral part of any culture, you can
develop a cultural sensitivity while studying their very means of
communication.
8. Do you often use a dictionary?
=> Yes, I use a dictionary very often, in fact daily. I am a student and
I read a lot of English texts related to my studies. I often come across
words I don’t know the meaning of and I use the dictionary to look up
the meaning.
9. What do you use dictionaries for?
=> I mostly use a dictionary to find out the meaning and spelling of
English words which I am not familiar with when I am reading a book
or some English writing. Apart from that, I also look at a dictionary
when I need to find out the pronunciation of words that I do not know.

10. What kinds of dictionaries do you think are most useful?

=> I believe an excellent dictionary should give us everything related
to a word such as meanings, pronunciation, examples, word families,
and such like. Most times I use electronic dictionaries such as Oxford,
Longman, Cambridge, and others.

PART 2:

I would like to talk about the story of learning a third language in my

life after English, which is Chinese.
As I know, Chinese is spoken not only in China but also in many
other countries such as Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore. In fact,
Chinese is the most widely spoken in the world.
As for me, the hardest part of learning Chinese is writing system.
Most other languages have alphabets that are spelled phonetically.
But in Chinese, there is no alphabet. Chinese words are written in a
Pictographic Alphabet, each word has a different writing order. As a
result, for each Chinese word, you need to memorize radicals, strokes,
and how to write them.
Chinese is a very easy language to learn by listening and speaking.
Some syllables of Chinese have a similar pronunciation to
Vietnamese. Therefore, learning Chinese has become easier. There's
not too much grammar. it's easy to learn and remember.
Currently, I am a student majoring in English so I must learn another
language and Chinese is a compulsory subject at school. I think
learning Chinese is beneficial for me. It is a popular language in the
world and therefore being able to speak Chinese will enhance my
employment prospects in the future.

PART 3:
1. Is it considered important in your country to learn foreign
languages?
=> I believe learning other languages can benefit Vietnamese people
in numerous ways. The most significant merit might possibly be the
ability to communicate smoothly with people coming from different
countries. Additionally, most companies prefer to hire multilingual
employees who can communicate in different languages. So, learn
foreign languages to get the job that you want.

2. In your opinion, what is the best way to learn a language?

=> I think the most effective way to learn a language is to practice
more with a native speaker. By doing this, you can improve both
listening and oral skills simultaneously, you will be fluent in this
language. Besides, I also do general readings in my spare time and
keep a journal in English.

1. How do people in your country feel about English being the

world language?
=> Today, English is one of the major languages in the world. People
who speak English fall into one of three groups: those who have
learned it as their native language; those who have learned it as a
second language in a society that is mainly bilingual; and those who
are forced to use it for practical purposes: administrative, professional
or educational. In Vietnam, English are considered as a foreign
language. As a result, I suppose that Vietnamese people learn and use
English for practical purposes as being mentioned above.
2. Does everyone in your country speak English?
=> Although Vietnamese is the national and official language of
Vietnam and is spoken by a large majority of the population,
communicating in English is becoming increasingly easy in major
cities in Vietnam. However, in smaller cities or rural areas, it may be
difficult for local residents to speak English. It is also assumed that
most older Vietnamese cannot speak English. In contrast, younger
generation can speak better English.

=> I prefer using laptops because they are portable and more
convenient. It is very light and fits in my bag easily, so I take it with
me to school.

7. Do you think it is important to learn how to use a computer?

=> Yes, it is very important. Computers become an essential part of
our daily life as technology has advanced. They are used for a wide
range of activities, from work and communication to entertainment
and education. It also help people to work more efficiently and
increase productivity. So knowing to use a computer is very essential.

8. Does everyone have access to the Internet in your country?

=> Yes, I believe so. I would say most people have an Internet
connection but the speed differs a lot depending on where you live.
For example, I think most people in big cities have good access to the
Internet. In constrast, the connection in some rural areas may be slow.

PART 2: Describe website

I suppose I should state that out of all widely used social media sites,
such as Instagram or, most recently, TikTok, I would only pick
Facebook to characterize.
I started using Facebook while I was a student in the eighth grade, and
opening an account there was a popular idea among teens at the time.
I access it on a daily basis.
I use Facebook to communicate with my friends and relatives who
live far away from me. It also helps me to communicate with some
other people and share my recent happenings with them in terms of
text status or by uploading photographs. In fact, this is the social
networking service that has helped me in a number of ways, and I can
reach anyone who has an account with the network.
benefiting from the website in numerous ways. Browsing the website,
I came to know about the latest happenings in the world. This has
become a great virtual space where people share their respective
events to let others know. It also helps to stay in touch with the near
and dear all the time.

Describe ip:
I’m going to talk about my new iPhone XS Max which comes in
handy.
I still remember vividly /ˈvɪv.ɪd.li/ that on my 19 birthday party, one
of my most memorable events, my parents gave it to me.
It is a rectangular /rekˈtæŋ.ɡjə.lər/ golden Japan device which looks
beautiful and fashionable.
I use it on a daily basis to do many. Firstly, in terms of my study, I
can check shedule, to taking online classroom. Besides that, I use it
keep in touch with my parents when I study away from home.
Furthermore, whenever I feel stressed, I often listen to music or play
games in the phone.
It is extremely meaningful for me in my life because of some reasons.
Firstly, it allows me to keep in touch with my family members and
relatives more easily. By this, I mean I can know what they are up to
by making a phone call video. Secondly, there are many applications
that assist me in my study. For example, I often use Quizlet one of the
most popular applications to boost my lexical resource.
All in all, this smartphone is an indispensable item for me that I could
not live without it.
PART 3:

robotics and artificial intelligence brings higher productivity,
increased efficiencies, safety, and convenience. But these
technologies also impact skills, wages, and the nature of work itself of
employees because every job has machines.

2. Do you think older people are scared of new technology?

=> Well, I think that most old people are afraid of modern technology
for many reasons. The first possible reason would be that the elderly
have a fear of making mistakes and the
consequences of these mistakes. For example, old people who have
been used to going to the bank to do transactions find it difficult to
change this habit, and bank online is new technology must be really
challenging for them.
Another feasible reason would be previous bad experiences with
technology. The complexity of the devices also makes old people
difficult to use. Many features available on devices mean that they
cannot understand or remember the precise operation of the device.

3. Do you think young children should have mobile phones?

=> Well, believe it or not, but it could be harmful for young children
to own a cell phone. To help explain this, take a look at these reasons
why kids shouldn’t have cell phones.
First, if kids spend a lot of time using mobile phones, it will cause eye
damage, impede their ability to learn, and them to get less sleep.
Second, a smartphone with an internet connection makes it easy for
children to access and search for answers about information or
exercises they don't know. It limit their creativity and imagination and
slow their development.

4. How do you think the Internet will affect our lives in the
future?
=> I think the Internet will probably have a huge impact on our lives.
Firstly, I think the Internet will probably replace TV in the future
because most channels are already available online. In addition,
schools and universities might also use the Internet to provide
courses, so online learning will probably become a normal part of life.
Another, doing more online shopping is predicted to be much more
popular in the future.

UNIT 7: HOBBIES
PART 1:
1. What are your hobbies?
=>I really enjoy cooking because I want to prepare special meals for
family and friends. I usually learn new recipes and dishes from videos
on TikTok or YouTube.

2. How have your hobbies changed in the last 5 years?

=> I used to play a ton of video games when I was a kid. I would
spend the entire night playing online games until the sun came up. It
was a very bad and expensive hobby. Though I still play some now, I
don't play as much as I used to.

=>I think I will try playing a sport like swimming or badminton.
because I have heard people say a lot of good benefits it brings to my
life. I will do my best to change.

=> I really enjoy reading. Because it brings knowledge. Besides that,
reading helps us relax after stressful working times. In addition,
reading opens up a brand new world which gradually fosters my
imagination. So it's not difficult to understand when many people like
reading books.

=>Speaking of films, I am a big fan of comedy films. I love this kind
of film simply because it cheers relaxes myself and release my
pressure.

=> Well, this is a hard question for me. because in every country I
love a different genre. When I want to watch romantic movies, I will
choose Chinese drama. For comedies, I will choose Vietnamese films.

7. Is going to the cinema to see a movie popular in your country?

=>Well, to me, in Vietnam, the cinema culture is indeed thriving, with
people from all walks of life enjoying the movie-going experience. It's
common to see families, friends, and couples flocking to the cinema
to catch the latest. That makes it an integral part of our entertainment
scene.

8. What kind of music do you enjoy listening to? Why?

=> I’m not completely into any type of music specifically, I listen to
the music that fit my mood. If I’m happy, I will listen to pop or hip
hop. And if I’m sad, I will just listen on repeat to jazz.

9. Do you like traveling?

=> Yes, traveling is my most favorite. When I’m free from study, I
like traveling to different places with my friends or family members.
We make trips to big cities like Vung Tau, Phan Thiet, or
mountainous cities like Da Lat.

10. Do you prefer to travel alone or with others?

=>Well, normally, I prefer traveling with others. Because I can share
many things, such as accommodation, and transport Besides that I
love it when people go to eat or sleep together. On my vacations with
my friends, me and them often gather in one room and play cards all
night, which makes me very interesting.

PART 2: Describe a hobby you enjoy.

Most people think that cooking is just daily work, which makes some
meals for themselves or their family. But for me, cooking is the
biggest hobby.
Cooking is my hobby and has been for several years. I began cooking
when I was 10 years old. At that time, my parents were occupied with
their work so I helped them with the cooking to reduce their burden.
After graduating from high school, I had to live far away from my
house and did everything on my own. If I ate in restaurants, I
wouldn’t know whether the preparation or cooking process is healthy
and clean. It’s also quite costly when we eat out compared to when
we make mouth-watering dishes by ourselves.
So I realized that skilled cooking is important in my life. Because it
makes me more independent and resourceful.
There are so many reasons I love to cook. I enjoy cooking time
because it helps me avoid upset in my life. Whenever I feel unhappy
or stressed, I usually cook meals. Because when I am cooking I have
very little time to think, the cooking is challenging my mind and takes
my mind on the stress of everyday life. Another benefit of cooking is
that it makes me happy and content when I prepare food for my
friends and family.
PART 3:
1. Do you think men and women tend to have different types of
hobbies?
=> There are a variety of possible differences here. Though I suppose
that the most obvious would be that the men have sports as hobbies
for example: physicality and strength, such as weightlifting and
football while The women usually enjoy more sedentary and peaceful
hobbies, like reading or crafts. Having said that, there are of course
women who love exhilarating hobbies or are fanatical about cycling
or something. And some men take up pottery or sewing.

2. How have hobbies changed since your parents were young?

=>

3. Do you think older and younger generations prefer different

types of music?
=> Yes, I believe so. People from different generation will have taste
variation. Depending upon the maturity, music stars of their own age,
impact of globalization as well as technological development in music
industry will divide younger and older generation. For example,
elderly people are usually big fans of classical music. In contrast,
youngsters’ taste in music is completely different, they always want to
listen to their favourite rock bands or famous rappers.

4. Do you think it can be a disadvantage to have too much free

time?
=> Well, they say that the devil makes work for idle hands and I think
it’s true that the lessyou have to do the less active you become and the
more time you waste. People whohave too much time to spare tend to
become lazy and lethargic. People who are always on the go, on the
other hand, think nothing of fitting one more thing into their busy
schedules.
5. Do people have more free time now than in the past?
=> Back in the day, life moved at a slower pace, and people often had
more hands-on tasks, like farming or making things by hand. Leisure
time wasn't too much. Now, with technology, we've got more
conveniences, making some tasks faster. However, the faster pace of
modern life and work demands can make us feel busier

UNIT 8: YOUTH
PART 1:
1. Did you enjoy your childhood? Why or why not?
=> Honestly /ˈɒn.ɪst.li/ , I had a wonderful childhood when I grew up
in a rural /ˈrʊə.rəl/ area. I play traditional games with my
neighboring /ˈneɪ.bər.ɪŋ/ kids . Such as blow bubbles, fly kites, jump
ropes,... We just always played all the time and were carefree.
/ˈkeə.friː/ Being a child has been a great experience ɪkˈspɪə.ri.əns/ for
me because I don’t have any burdens /ˈbɜː.dən/ or worries. I really
treasure /ˈtreʒ.ər/ every single childhood memory I have.
2. What activities did you enjoy doing as a child?
=> When I was a child, I was interested in playing with dolls and
jump rope . In addition, I was also a big fan of video games and
children books.
3. What was your favorite toy when you were a child?
=> Probably I could Barbie doll was my favorite toy when I was a
child. Barbie doll was like my friend, whenever I felt sad, I would talk
to her. She was really a shoulder to cry on. If I needed comfort, I
would hug him and cry and I would feel better afterward

4. What’s your most vivid childhood memory?

=>I remember going out to fly kites with my brother one day. We
often used to fly kites in the countryside near my home, and this time
we fly kites far over the fields. It started to rain really heavily, so we
hid under a big tree, but then there was a thunderstorm, and you really
shouldn’t stay under a tree when there’s lightning. It was really scary.

5. Are you still in touch with your childhood friends?

=>I have to thank to the god, my childhood friends also my best
friend. We live in the same town so it is easy for us to keep in touch.
However, each of us has a different dream to follow as a result we
don’t have as much time as we used to have before. But I can make
sure that whenever I need her, she always be ready to help.

6. Who did you spend more time with when you were a child,
your friends or your family?
=>In my early years, I spent more time with my family than with my
friends. My parents, my brother, and I often have a meal together.
Furthermore, we also enjoyed watching movies and traveling
together.

7. How have you changed since you were a child?

=> Yes, I think that I change completely. From a shy, introverted
child who was scared of everything, after experiencing, learning and
growing a lot, now, I can confidently claim that I am a social
butterfly. Knowing my own strength and weaknesses, I can be more
confident and amiable.

8. What about your childhood do you wish you could change?

=> If ever I could change one thing about my childhood, it would be
my relation with my old friend. For some mistakes, I lost good
friends, and never could to each other again I came to know that we
both were two lonely souls and could have stuck together and enjoyed
life as we grew up.

PART 2: Describe a happy childhood memory.

Well, I have had many happy as a child, but I don’t remember them
all. But there are a few moments that are still imprinted in my
memory. My childhood was attached to that of my cousin. If my
memory serves me right, I remember going out to fly kites with my
brother one day. We often used to fly kites in the countryside near my
home, and this time we flew kites far over the fields. It started to rain
heavily, so we hid under a big tree, but then there was a thunderstorm,
and you really shouldn’t stay under a tree when there’s lightning. It
was really scary. But after a few minutes, I completely forgot and
went to play with my cousin. It was such a merry day for me. I
consider it a happy memory because we enjoyed ourselves so much,
and I remember vividly how I felt that day. So, as you can see, it was
a wonderful day and is one of my favorite childhood memories.

PART 3:
1. Is it important for children to have fun? Why?
=> Absolutely! It's super important for kids to have fun. Fun is like
their way of learning and growing. When they have a good time, it
boosts their creativity, social skills, and even helps with things like
problem-solving. Plus, it just makes childhood awesome and
memorable. So, yeah, having fun is a big deal for kiddos.

2. What do you think is the most important for a happy

childhood?
=>The most important thing for a happy childhood is a happy home.
It is very important for a child to grow as a happy individual to have a
home where his/her parents love each other. Where, there is a balance
in life.

3. How does a person’s childhood influence what kind of adult

they become?
=> Well, it probably influences them in many ways, some of which
are subtle and some obvious. For one example, if you have a happy,
healthy childhood, you are probably more likely to become a well-
adjusted adult. However, if you were subjected to bullying and abuse,
you may replicate that behaviour as an adult.

4. When does a child become an adult in your view?

=>Oh wow, that’s a difficult question. I suppose legally we are adults
at 18 in my country.
However, I think growing into adulthood is more complex and inexact
process. Some people mature very early and others very late, and
there is probably no point at which any person could be said to have
switched from childhood to adulthood.

Unit 9: HOME
Part 1:
1. Could you tell me about your hometown?
=> I come from Binh Thuan Province is located on the coast of South
Central Vietnam. This place has no city smoke , the landscape is
always beautiful and peaceful.
2. In what ways has your town or city changed since you were a
child?
=> I think the biggest change in my town since I was a child in Binh
Thuan is more popular for tourism. More and more people around my
country come and visit Binh Thuan for a holiday, make Binh Thuan
become one of the most attractive destinations.
3. How could your town or city be improved?
=> The city where I live now is beautiful and irs hard for me to think
of any way in which it could be improved. I suppose if I had to find
something, I’d say that it has mainly chain restaurants and shops, so
we could do with a greater range of independent places. It would
make eating out and shopping more enjoyable.
4. Are there any traffic problems where you live?
=>
5. What do you like most about your hometown?
=> I like the hospitality and the love of people there which I hardly
find them in my current place. Everyone is living close together and
willing to give others a hand when they need help.
6. Is your hometown famous for anything?
=>
7. Would you prefer to live in another place?
=>To be honest, I hope I could come back to my hometown one day
to visit my relatives and friends, but to settle down my life there is not
my plan. I am getting familiar with city life and there are more job
opportunities for my future career.
8. Do you think your hometown is a good place for young people?
9. Is there anything you dislike about your hometown?

10. Do you think your hometown is a place worth living?

=>My hometown is both traditional and modern. On the one hand,
tradition is preserved by a number of festivals celebrated by local
people. On the other hand, a whole lot of high-rise buildings as
residential places or shopping malls are built, which turns our little
hometown into a worth-living place.

PART 2:
In the summer of 2019, I visited Mui Ne Sands.
Mui Ne was one of the most riveting places I have ever visited.
Mui Ne is a coastal resort town in the Bình Thuận province of the
southeast region of vietnam. The town is close to the city of Phan
Thiết about 4 hours by bus from Ho Chi Minh city. Mui Ne beach is
the most tourist destination in Vietnam.
I was traveling with my friend. We went by motorbike there for 3
hours. In the daytime, we could just relax. At night we eat seafood
visit the night market and walk along the beaches stargazing.
It was a memorable experience for me as it was my first time
traveling long days with my friends without my parents, as well as
the feeling of being on the sea stargazing.

Part 3:
1. What are the differences between living in a city and living in
the countryside?
=>Living in a city and living in the countryside are like two different
worlds.
In the city, it's all hustle and bustle. You've got tall buildings, tons of
people, and everything moves pretty fast. There are shops and
restaurants everywhere, and life is more about convenience.
Now, in the countryside, it's a whole different vibe. It's quieter, more
space, and you're surrounded by nature. You won't find big shopping
malls, but you might have a backyard or fields. Life is slower, and
you're close to the simple things.

2. Do you think it’s better for children to grow up in the city or

the country?
=> Both growing up in the city and in the countryside have their own
advantages and disadvantages. However, I personally believe that
growing up in the countryside is generally better for children.
Firstly, children who grow up in the countryside have a better chance
of being in close contact with nature. This can help them to develop a
greater appreciation for and understanding of the natural world, as
well as promote their physical and mental well-being. Secondly,
children growing up in the countryside tend to have a stronger sense
of community. This can be especially beneficial for children who may
be shy or have difficulty making friends.
3. Why do some people retire to the countryside?
=> Well, retiring to the countryside is like hitting the relaxation
button. It's quieter, there's fresh air, and you're surrounded by nature.
After years of city hustle, it's a chance to slow down, enjoy the simple
things, maybe have a garden or just peace.

Unit 11: HOME

Part 1
1. Is your country popular with tourists?
=> Oh yes, it is. Vietnam is a key tourist destination. It is very
suitable for sunseekers because Vietnam is a tropical country, so we
get a lot of sun. Furthermore, people who are into culture and history
love my country. We get millions of visitors every year.
2. What sights and activities would you recommend to a tourist
visiting your town or region?
=>Being a people in Binh Thuan I would recommend it to a tourist
visiting my town. Binh Thuan has become an attractive destination in
recent years. But I would say the sight of Binh Thuan will not
disappoint you. My hometown is famous has a lot of beaches and
resorts. If there's an opportunity to come here and relax you should go
to Hon Rom Beach and eat seafood.

3. Do you enjoy active holidays?

=> Yes, absolutely. I’m not one of those people who like to sit by the
pool all day and sunbathe. I get so bored. When I go on holiday, I like
to get out there and visit the historical buildings, eat the local food
and, if possible, speak to the local people.
4. Could you tell me what your ideal holiday would be?
=> For us, the perfect holiday would be a relaxing beach holiday.
Even though the summer tends to be the busiest tourist season, we
would most probably go to a beach resort to enjoy the beautiful
summer weather. We much prefer hot weather, because my parents
live in a city in the north part of Vietnam where the weather is much
colder than most regions in the country
5. What do you often do on your holiday?
=> Sometimes I travel to broaden my horizons, to admire the beauty
of nature and to plunge myself into the picturesque landscape in other
regions in my country. Every now and then, I just stay at home with
my family and have a little get-together to celebrate the holidays
6. Do you prefer traveling alone or in a group?
=> I prefer travelling in a group as it’s always safe and most
affordable. Also when we go on a trip as a group we are bonded with
different type of people and make a lot beautiful ,sour and sweet
memories.
7. Would you recommend your hometown to foreign tourists?
=> Yes, definitely. My hometown, Binh Thuan province, is the best
place to visit on a holiday as it has the best scenic views and a lot of
places to wander around. Also my hometown is kind of famous for its
delicious food and shopping areas.
8. If you can visit another country, where will you go? Why?
=> I would like to visit Japan and also South Korea. These are my
most favourite and desired destinations because of their scenic beauty
and also the people who are very generous and sweet.
9. Are there many tourists visiting your country?
=> Yes, a good number of foreign visitors come into my country,
Vietnam. I have noticed that the middle-aged people are more in
number than other age groups. They come from almost every part of
the world including Asia, Europe, and America.

10. What kind of places have you visited in your life?

=> Sadly, I didn’t get to see many destinations inside my native
country where I apprehend plenty of scenic. So I would like to travel
someplace related to history in my country such as Hue or Ha Noi
Part 2: Describe a memorable holiday

Part 3:
1. Do you think it’s true that travel broadens the mind?
=> Yes, I agree. Traveling makes you a more open person, as you see
ways of living, eating, drinking, interacting with others and it allows
you to see your own culture more objectively. It also leads to more
experience and makes you more interesting to chat.
2. Do young people and older people benefit differently from
traveling?
I think young people tend to be adventurous and have fun. Older
people value relaxation more because they have so many
responsibilities at home that what they want more than anything is to
turn off their phones while away.
3. What are the positive impacts of tourism?
Oh, tourism brings some good stuff! First off, it's a job creator, you
know? More tourists mean more jobs in hotels, restaurants, and local
shops. It's like a boost for the economy. And hey, it helps keep
traditions alive. Tourists love the local vibe, so places tend to preserve
their culture and history. On the social side, it's like a global hangout.
People from different places meet, and share stories, and it's a cool
way to build friendships.
4. What are the negative impacts of tourism?
Yeah, tourism has its downsides too. One biggie is the strain on the
environment. More tourists can lead to pollution and harm local
ecosystems. And sometimes, to meet the demands, there's
overbuilding, which messes with the natural beauty of a place. Then
there's the whole "too many tourists" problem. It can overcrowd
places, making it less enjoyable for both visitors and locals.
5. How has tourism impacted tourist sites in your country?
On the bright side, it's created more jobs, especially in hotels and
restaurants. Plus, tourists get to dive into Vietnamese culture, try local
food, and explore cool places. But, there's a flip side. Some spots are
getting pretty crowded, and that can take away from the chill vibe. It's
like a balancing act—tourism brings in money and cultural exchange,
but it needs careful handling to avoid overcrowding and harming the
environment.
