Method of Statement For Welding Refrigerant Pipes
Method of Statement For Welding Refrigerant Pipes
(Refrigerant Pipe)
1.0 PURPOSE
1.1 Ensure that copper pipe (refrigerant pipe) joining is carried out in proper and
controlled condition as per Method Statement.
2.0 SCOPE
2.1 This procedure shall cover all areas for copper pipe (refrigerant pipe) joining for any
kind of project.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITIES
3.1 Engineer-in-Charge is responsible for ensuring joining of copper pipes is carried out as
per Method Statement and in a safe manner.

(Refrigerant Pipe)
5.1 N/A
8.0 PROCEDURES
8.1 Prepare copper tube, tube cutter, reamer, sand cloth, brush and hacksaw.
8.2 Make measurements to the desired length of the pipe.
8.3 Mark the pipe where cutting is to be done
8.4 Insert the copper pipe inside the cutting tool and hold the pipe properly to produce a
good result.
8.5 By using a reamer, remove the burrs from the inside of the tube because they restrict
the flow of the gas.
8.6 Clean the tube by sand cloth and by brush.
8.7 Flare Jointing of Copper Pipe
-After cutting and cleaning the copper pipe
8.7.1 Slip the flare nut or coupling nut over the tubing with the threaded end facing
the end of the tubing.
8.7.2 Clamp the tube in the flaring block.
8.7.3 Place the yoke on the block with the tapered cone over the end of the tube
(use a drop or two refrigerant oil).
8.7.4 Turn the screw down firmly. Continue to turn the screw until the flare is
completed.
8.7.5 Remove the tubing from the block. Inspect for defects. If you found any, cut-off
the flare and start over.
8.7.6 Assemble the Joints.
