INTRODUCTION
The purpose of the SBA is to investigate whether or not the colors/flavors in the Skittles sweets
are evenly administered. The researcher will collect and calculate the amount of Skittles sweets
that was distributed in each package. The data will be illustrated on a column graph to determine
the answer to said question above. This mathematics SBA project is based on if the sweets
Skittles are evenly distributed. The purpose of the SBA is to investigate whether or not the
colors/flavors in the Skittles sweets are evenly administered. The researcher will collect and
calculate the amount of Skittles sweets that was distributed in each package. The data will be
illustrated on a column graph to determine the answer to said question above. There are several
methods that can be used for data collection in this math SBA project on the even distribution of
Skittles sweets. Here are a few examples: Convenience Sampling: The researcher can select
packages of Skittles sweets that are easily accessible, such as those available at a local store or
supermarket. The sweets in each package can be counted and recorded. After the data has been
collected, the researcher can then use statistical methods to analyze and draw conclusions about
The researcher procured five packages of Skittles candies and allocated them to each group
member to conduct an analysis. Each member was directed to open their package, sort the
candies by flavor, and calculate the sum of each flavor using addition. Following this, each
member examined the sum of each flavor to determine if the distribution was even.
Instructions:
Obtain four packages of Skittles candies.
Give each member of the group one package.
Instruct each member to open their package and pour the candies into a large bowl.
Ask each member to sort the candies by color.
Record the number of candies for each color in their package.
Calculate the sum of each color for all four packages using addition.
Calculate the total number of candies in all four packages.
Calculate the expected number of candies for each color by dividing the total number of candies
by the number of colors.
Calculate the difference between the expected and actual sum of candies for each color.
Calculate the mean and standard deviation of the differences.
Use the mean and standard deviation to calculate a 95% confidence interval for the difference.

The table above illustrates 5 packs of Skittles evenly distributed whereas, Orange has the highest
amount of 32 and red has the least amount of 10. The maximum of 114 skittles was counted in
each pack. Red and Orange has the similar amount of 10 and 36 respectively. while Blue has 16

ANALYSIS OF DATA
According to data presented orange counted the highest with a maximum of 36 skittles
comparing to red that has a minimum of 10. Brown and Blue are similar which means they both
add up to 32. Green counted 13 comparing to yellow which has the value of 24.Margin of error
was accounted for with some skittles having no color. The average skittles per pack is 22 skittles
candies.
DISCUSSION
The study conducted indicated that the distribution of Skittles candies by color was uneven. The highest
number of candies in each package was the yellow ones, while the brown ones had the least number of
candies. The number of brown and blue candies was identical, with each package containing 16 pieces.
CONCLUSION
It has been concluded that manufacturers that produce these candies are not taking into
consideration that accurate measurements are a necessity for most consumers. Although the
Skittles candies were from different packages, it was evident that their colors/flavors were not
distributed evenly.
