DEDICATION
“Knowledge ThaT Is noT spoken of Is lIke a TreasUre ThaT Is noT spenT.”
I dedicate this book to my youngest daughter a nurse by profession.
She earned her degree of B.ScN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) in 2016.
She got status of Registered Nurse of Pakistan Nursing Council in 2017. After
having worked at a renowned private hospital in Karachi for more than five years
she got her first foreign job as nurse in an Arabic speaking country in October
2021.
May Allah ﺳ ْﺑ َﺣﺎﻧَﻪُ َﻭ ﺗَﻌَﺎﻟَ ٰﻰ
ُ grant her shinning successes and career growth.
Aameen.

Summary

ospital Vocabulary ُﻣﻔﺭﺩﺍﺕ ﺍﻟ ُﻣﺳﺗﺷﻔﻰbook has English‐Arabic medical words. The
book is the output of an idea that came to my mind when my youngest daughter ‐
a nurse by profession who, after earning her degree of B.ScN (Bachelor of Science
in Nursing) and having five years of work experience as registered nurse, got her first
foreign job as nurse in an Arabic speaking country.
Hospital Vocabulary book is primarily for those non‐Arabic speaking medical staff of
hospitals and clinics working in Arabic speaking countries. Such workers need to
understand common medical words in Arabic language to converse with their local
patients who cannot speak English and try to convey their health conditions in Arabic
language only. Forefront among them are those non‐Arabic speaking male and female
nursing staff doing their daily duties in hospitals and clinics in Arabic speaking
countries.
The book will be equally useful for local as well as foreign medical students pursuing
their studies in Arabic speaking countries. The book provides common medical words in
English and Arabic. English words are sorted alphabetically.
Few common grammar abbreviations are used throughout the book. Abbreviations
page is provided among the first few pages of the book. Transliteration of each Arabic
word is given in Englsih letters. Due care has been exercised in transliteration formations
‐ making Arabic pronounciation easy for the readers. Repetition of transliteration is
abbreviated as "~" (tilde).
