Chapter I
INTRODUCTION
In january 2021, Tadena Shannen. Cyberbullying is the act of harassing or harming someone
via social media (SM) using derogatory comments, humiliating pictures, and electronic
threats. Victims often report feelings of depression, anger, frustration, and suicidal thoughts.
Cyberbullying is linked to low self-esteem, family problems, academic problems, violence,
and delinquent behaviors. The estimated number of adolescents experiencing cyberbullying is
around 10%-40%, with the percentage depending on age and definition. Low empathy levels
can influence the development of violent behavior. Adolescence is a crucial developmental
stage, and parents expect adolescents to be aware of their actions and consequences.
Camaraderie is a factor valued by Filipino adolescents, leading to the expectation of empathy.
However, little research has been conducted on Filipino adolescents characteristics, and there

Theoretical Framework
The Barlet Gentile cyberbullying model (BGCM) is a learning-based psychological theory
use to elucidate the processes involved I cyberbullying perpetration.
This model posits that early cyberbullying behaviors aid in the development of anonymity
perceptions and the belief that one's muscularity is irrelevant online (termed BI-МОВ). These
variables lead to the development of positive cyberbullying attitudes, which predict
subsequent cyberbullying perpetration. It says here that no matter how strong you are or how
big your body is you can't use it because cyberbullying happens on social media your feelings
or attitude will be affected not the physical and most of those who doing cyberbullying use
fake accounts. It's harder to get hurt emotionally than a physical wound because when your
body has a wound it heals on its own, unlike feelings that don't just heal because only your
friends or family can heal it by strengthening you inside. So if the wound in your feelings due
to cyberbullying is not taken care of it can lead to depression and if it is not taken care of it
can even lead to suicide.
Conceptual Framework
This study revolves around cyberbullying and the effects of its in mental health of every
students. Cyberbullying is bullying with the use of digital technologies. It can take place on
social media, messaging platforms, gaming platforms and mobile phones. It is repeated
behaviour, aimed at scaring, angering, or shaming those who are targeted. Mental health

and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, related to others, and make healthy
