NARRATIVE REPORT ON THE DIVISION FESTIVAL OF TALENTS

IN ENGLISH

The Laoac National High School- English Department, headed by Dr.

Remegia V. Javier, Head Teacher II, attended and participated in the Division
Festival of Talents in English on January 19, 2024 at Rosales National High School,
Rosales, Pangasinan.

The said event was participated by twenty-two municipalities in Pangasinan

Division II. This aimed to showcase the knowledge and skills of the learners in the
varied competitions such as: Story Retelling, Interpretative Poem Reading, Spelling
Bee, Essay Writing, Quiz Bee, Oratorical Composition and Presentation, Spoken
Poetry and Extemporaneous Speaking.

With the successful conduct of the Municipal Festival of Talents in Laoac last
December 2023, two students from Laoac National High School bagged the First
Place in Essay Writing and Extemporaneous, respectively. These two students
represented not only the school but also the municipality in the recently concluded
event mentioned above.

Angel Aquino, 11 ABM student, coached by Mrs.Gemma Torio, with her

determination and wit, took part in the battle of writing and speaking, as she
promisingly demonstrated her prowess in the Extemporaneous Speaking. Her
performance was indeed a manifestation of her undeniable good communication
skills. Landing on the skirt was still of great honor as she considered the experience
meaningful from which she’ll take inspiration to improve her skills for future speaking
engagements.

In the other hand, Ezekiel V. Carcha, a Grade 8 student, extraordinarily

penned his ideas about the topic, “Impact of Social Media on Student’s Learning”.
For an hour of organizing and scribbling his thoughts, he was able to capture the
hearts of the judges as he bagged the Fourth Place in the said competition. His
brilliance in writing that demonstrated his booming skills only proved that anyone
could achieve heights after series of tedious reading and writing practices. Mrs.
Rhyslyn Rufin-Salinas, Ezekiel’s mentor, reiterated the importance and great
contribution of reading in having meaningful content.

With these, the English Department assured to discover and develop learners’
potentials for next school year’s Festival of Talents. This opened doors of
possibilities and improvement that the teachers will sure work on.
