Day 1
1 min Build rapport with student
 Ask the student questions to engage him/her in a conversation
 “How are you today?”
 “Have you eaten lunch?”
 Introduce today’s topic
 “Today, we will talk about learning new things! Are you ready?”
3 mins The Big Idea
 Have the student read the title or repeat after the teacher.
 “Please read the title.” Or “Read the title with me.”
 Ask the student to look at the photos and discuss the question.
 “Look at the photos. What are the kids doing? What can we learn when we try new things?”

5 mins Weekly Concept


 Ask the student to look at the photo on page 4 and discuss the question.
 “Look at this photo. How are these kids getting along?
 “How can we get along with friends?”
 Ask the student to look at the photos on page 5 and read the words.
 “These are ways how friends get along. Let’s read.”
 Direct students to the second prompt on page 5. Tell the student to draw one thing he/she
can do with a new friend.
 “Think about what you can do with your friend. Draw on the box below or describe it.”
5 mins Phonics
 Play track 02.
 Students will first listen, and then repeat the word map.
 The sound is /m/. The /m/ sound is spelled with the letter m.
 Say it with me /mmm/.
 They will then practice writing the capital and lowercase letter Mm.
 Now, let’s trace and write big and small /m/
 Let us read the other words that start with /mmm/.

5 mins HF Words
 Point to and say the word see.
 This is the word see. Say it with me: see.
 Play track 03. Students will first listen, and then repeat the sentences.
 Invite students to make up their own sentences.
 Let us try making up new sentences using the word see.

1 min Wrap up and say goodbye.


 Give student homework:
 Use the words on pages 6-7 in sentences.

Day 2
1 min Build rapport with student
 Ask the student questions to engage him/her in a conversation
 “How are you today?”
 “Have you eaten lunch?”
 Introduce today’s topic
 “Today, we will continue talking about learning new things! Are you ready?”
3 mins Check Homework
 Ask the student to read the sentences.
 “Please read the sentences you mad with our new words last time.”
 Correct any mispronunciation right away and let the student repeat the correct
pronunciation.
7 mins Words to Know
 Read the words and sentences. Let the student repeat after the teacher.
 "Let's read our new words for today. Repeat after me."
 Invite students to make up their own sentences using the Words to Know from pages 10 and
11.
 Let’s make up new sentences using the “words to know”


8 mins Shared Read 1
 Read the instructions for each photo.
 Underline and read aloud the word see.
 Circle and read aloud the word that begins with the same sound as map.
 Ask the student the essential question.
 How can we get along with new friends?

1 min Wrap up and say goodbye.


 Give student homework:
 Give four more words that start with /m/.
