unit consists of refrigerant hermetic compressors, cooling coil, condenser coil, fans, electric heater (optional), control
wiring and interconnecting piping - all factory assembled and mounted on a heavy gauge G-90 galvanized steel sheet
press formed base, ready for field connection to utilities, roof curbs & ducts. The packaged unit is of rigid construction
with holes provided in the base rails for overhead rigging. The unit is provided with an integral weather resistant control
panel. These units are of single cabinet construction and can be supplied with side/bottom supply air, and side/bottom
return air arrangement to provide optimum installation flexibility. These units are rated and tested in accordance with ARI
standard 210/360.
These units can be provided with additional accessories like economizer, manual fresh air damper with hood & pre-filters,
enthalpy sensor, roof curb, cooling/cooling & heating thermostat, under voltage monitor (UVM), and pump down solenoid
valve (PDS).
B. Unit Enclosure
Frame design is made of galvanized steel vertical posts, cross channels & supporting brackets joined together bolted.
Steel sheet panels are zinc coated and galvanized by the hot dip process of lock forming quality conforming to ASTM A
653 commercial weight G-90, followed by baked on electrostatic polyester dry powder coat.
C. Compressor
Compressors are fully hermetic type, provided with all standard controls and accessories necessary for safe operation.
These are equipped with internal motor protector, factory installed Crankcase Heater and rubber isolators for quiet and
efficient operation. Scroll compressors are provided for higher size models.

F. Evaporator Section
1. Drain Pan:
a). For PX036 - PX150: Internally trapped ABS plastic material drain pan is provided as a standard on all these units.
This eliminates the need for field installation of condensate P-traps which saves time & money.
b). For PX185 - PX300: Drain pan is provided under the cooling coil and incorporates 3/4" NPT coupling connection
on both ends. The insulated drain pan is made of G-90 galvanized steel with mastic coated liner for additional
corrosion protection.
2. Insulation:
Insulation is supplied in adequate thickness and density to prevent condensation from forming on the unit casing. Insu-
lation meets the requirements of NFPA 90A and is protected against deterioration and errosion from air currents.
G. Evaporator Fan
Fans are of centrifugal type with forward curved blades capable of handling total required CFM & static pressure in the
low and medium ranges. Casing and impeller is made of galvanized steel. Fan drive is through adjustable pitch pulleys
and belt driven. Blower motor is mounted on anti vibration pads on adjustable base and secured by locking device. Fan
wheels, shaft and bearing are selected to operate at 25% below first critical speed. Pillow block bearings are selected for
at least 200,000 hours average life at design operating conditions. Shaft is turned, ground and polished from solid steel.
Fans and pulleys are keyed to shafts and designed for continuous operation at maximum motor horse power and fan
speed. All rotating components and assemblies are statically and dynamically balanced and every unit is vibration tested
before shipment from the factory.
Models PX036 & PX048 are with direct drive motors.
B. Roof Curb
Roof Curb accessory is shipped disassembled. It is made from 16 gauge galvanized steel with wood nailer strip and
capable of supporting unit weight.
The roof curb can be ordered and installed by the contractor early in the construction stage itself for installing and
securing the ductwork to the curb prior to unit mounting.
7
C. Economizer
The economizer permits low-cost operation by utilizing cool outdoor air for free cooling. A damper on the economizer
controls the amount of outdoor air and on closed position it provides a leak proof seal. It can easily be adjusted for 100%
outdoor air, 100% return air or any proportions of mixed air.
E. Enthalpy Sensor
The solid state enthalpy sensor is capable of accurately sensing outdoor air enthalpy content (temperature & humidity)
and controlling the economizer damper. Thereby, providing an efficient, economical system operation.
F. Manual Damper
Manual damper package consists of damper, birdscreen and rainhood which can be adjusted to admit up to 50% outdoor
air for year round ventilation.
G. Electric Heaters
Electric heaters are of the resistance open coil type and conform to the requirements of UL 573 or equivalent. Electrical
characteristics, kW capacities and number of stages are as indicated. Airflow switches, fusible links and overheat limit
thermostats are provided to shut-off power in case of airflow failure/overheat.
H. Electronic Thermostats
General Informations: Single stage or two stage thermostats provide low voltage control of one or two stage heating and/or
cooling applications. The thermostat normally displays room temperature, mode of operation and which system is currently on.
You may select different heating and cooling setpoints for the systems to maintain (example 700F in heating and 750F in
cooling). Raising or lowering the setpoints in heating or cooling is as simple as pushing a button.
The thermostat also allows you to select continuous fan operation, (useful when using an electronic air cleaner), or have
the fan on intermittent operation with the equipment.
The thermostat is best located about 1500 mm (5 Ft.) above floor level, on a partition wall (not an outside wall), and
should not be exposed to direct light from lamps, sun etc. It should be in return air stream, away from supply air registers/
diffusers.

ECONOMIZER
CONTROLS & SEQUENCE OF OPERATION
GENERAL
The economizer utilizes cool outside air to satisfy cooling load and thus minimize energy consumption.
A standard economizer uses a dry bulb thermostat to sense outdoor air temperature. If required, solid state enthalpy
controller (optional) can be substituted for Outdoor Air Thermostat (OAT).
SEQUENCE OF OPERATION
1. Outdoor air temperature > OAT setting
When outdoor air temperature is above OAT setting and the room temperature calls for cooling, the compressor 1 &
condenser fan motor starts along with the blower motor & the economizer damper moves to the minimum position. On
further calls for cooling, the second compressor will start to meet the additional cooling load requirements. After the
thermostat is satisfied, the compressors are cycled off and once the blower motor also stops, the damper moves to the
fully closed position.
2. Outdoor air temperature < OAT setting
When outdoor air temperature is less than OAT setting and the room temperature calls for cooling, the economizer is
in stage 1 cooling and the compressor 1 is on stage 2. Compressor 2 stops automatically.
When the thermostat calls for cooling, the economizer damper moves to minimum position.
Based on the supply air temperature, the damper either fully opens or modulates to an intermediate position or to
minimum position. (The damper will open for a brief period, say about 5 seconds and will remain idle for about 30
seconds during this period).
When the thermostat is satisfied, the damper will move back to the fully closed position.
If outdoor air alone cannot satisfy the cooling load requirement of the conditioned space, then the compressor 1 will
provide the second stage cooling. The damper operation is the same as stated above.
When the second stage cooling is satisfied, the compressor and the condenser fan will cycle off. When first stage
cooling is also satisfied, the damper moves to the fully closed position.
C. FAN MODE
When thermostat is set for Fan Mode, the economizer damper moves to the minimum position. When blower motor is
switched off, the damper moves to the fully closed position.
