Mazda3 (BM) with Center Display Worldwide

Subject: Improper Detection of DTC B108E:04 (Center Display Internal


Malfunction) without any malfunction
DESCRIPTION
This Service Information is to advise dealers about the following service note for the DTC B108E:04
which may be stored in the memory and found during normal service operation.
B108E:04 Center display internal malfunction
If this DTC is stored without any malfunction of the center display or connectivity master unit (CMU),
it is not necessary to attempt any further diagnosis/repair and the vehicle can be returned to the
customer as it is. (You can clear the DTC but it may be stored again.)
Even if this DTC is stored, the customer will not notice it as no related warning light or message is
displayed.

CAUSE
Too sensitive detection condition of DTC 108E:04.

MASS PRODUCTION CHANGE


Software of the center display has been changed to optimize the detection condition.

REFERENCE

The software version can be determined by using the diagnostic assist function [CONNECTIVITY
MASTER UNIT] as follows. By doing so it can be confirmed if the software level is before or after the
change.

Confirmation procedure of software version

1. Activate the diagnostic assist function of CONNECTIVITY MASTER UNIT according to the
activation procedure. (See Activation Procedure in the workshop manual “DIAGNOSTIC
ASSIST FUNCTION [CONNECTIVITY MASTER UNIT].)

2. Input Diagnostic Assist Code “68” according to the procedure. (See “Diagnostic Assist Code
Input Procedure” in the workshop manual “DIAGNOSTIC ASSIST FUNCTION
[CONNECTIVITY MASTER UNIT].)

3. Confirm the software version displayed on the TFT LCD screen.


The software version is BHP1_A_0006 or older. : Before modification
The software version is BHP1_A_0007 or later. : After modification
4. Cancel the diagnostic assist function according to the ending procedure. (See “Ending
Procedure” in the workshop manual “DIAGNOSTIC ASSIST FUNCTION [CONNECTIVITY
MASTER UNIT].)
