Central Engineering & Technology
Strategy
1. Improve end-user productivity – Improve end-user productivity through
standardization and simplification of work processes, intuitive and
integrated automation tools, and ubiquitous delivery of information.
Reduce effort required to learn and use our work-processes and tools.
2. Interoperate with suppliers – Develop tighter interface and
interoperability with suppliers to improve quality and timeliness of
information centered on the ISO 15926 and Building Information Model
(BIM) industry standards.
3. Predictable and reliable cross-functional integration – Continue the
integration of BSAPs and the deployment of an ISO 15926 data
exchange, lifecycle integration, cross application reporting, and BIM
platform.
4. Single source of truth – Create a managed electronic environment to
access engineering information, where there is one defined trusted
source of documents and data accessed by all engineering execution
units.
5. Leverage the 3D CAD model – Leverage the 3D CAD model to access
the managed engineering environment by all project personnel (Project
Services Network Portal).
6. Standardize application portfolios across GBUs – Standardize
application portfolio, configuration and integration across GBUs.
Engineering BSAPs
Central Engineering & Technology (CET) will continue the advancement of
corporate BSAPs. This includes implementing workshop requirements, funding,
working with software vendors to meet emerging Bechtel requirements,
standardizing for Bechtel work processes, providing maintenance and support,
and integrating with other BSAPS. The following is a list of the major corporate
Engineering BSAPs that represent CET’s recommendations for project use.
Construction
22. Delivery of generic and easily configurable system to support work-
flow, RFI and field change processes.
23. Reduce variances in TEAMWorks configuration across the GBUs.
24. Utilize MS SQL Server Reporting Service (SSRS) to get engineering
data for reporting purpose versus data exchange (PSN Portal).
25. Integration with Engineering Master Data Management (NRX,
SmartPlant Foundation, ProjectWise Lifecycle Server, etc.).
26. Commitment for training and utilization of the 3D CAD model at the
jobsite for visualization, planning, status of progress, work-packaging
and scoping.
27. Increased use of video for real-time problem solving.
Project Controls
28. Alignment of processes to support integration of schedule with
BSAPs.
29. Integration of Primavera Project Planner and EPPR.
30. DataBroker interfaces for Primavera Project Planner, CADS (Cost
Account Distribution System), ePCWorks.
31. Supplier data schedule integration.
