Engineering Systems Information
The engineering work execution processes have, and will continue to evolve into
highly efficient and integrated cross-functional work processes. Cross functional Owners
communications, Six Sigma institutionalization, Lesson Learned incorporation, Central Engineering &
expanded use of 3D technologies, and improvements in automation integration Technology
have all led to improvements in work process integration. At the same time, work

In 2015 the environment will exist whereby tools are user friendly, easily learned

by new personnel, and are integrated across our functions and our business [email protected]
partners. Our tools will interface easily with our supplier’s, JV partners, and
customer's systems via industry interoperability standards to allow for fast, Frank Matthewson
precise, and continuous communication of engineering information. Information +1 (301) 228-6004
for any component will be retrieved through a single access point used by all. [email protected]
The information will flow to that access point from a federation of interfaces made
up of both Bechtel and non-Bechtel applications. Video and web conferencing
communication between global engineering offices and jobsites will allow for
instant communication for immediate understanding and resolution of jobsite
issues. Tools will be standardized across GBUs to the maximum extent practical.
A key success factor is through the implementation of strategies that will drive
improvements in information quality, applications, integration, and work
processes. This will meet the needs of the business and eliminate multiple copies
of documents and data residing in multiple offices achieving a global and
seamless work environment that provides for improved quality and timeliness of
deliverables at a lower cost.
Vision
To provide the tools, processes, and environment for meeting the common goals
of Bechtel GBUs to deliver projects as sold and meet customer expectations.
These include:
1. Manage risk, prevent cost overruns, and deliver the project on schedule
2. Meet the demand for shorter project schedules without sacrificing quality
3. Achieve project delivery standardization and consistency
4. Improve the flow of electronic information
5. Raise the quality of our information throughout its lifecycle
6. Support the increasing demands for quality and timely information driven
by customers
7. Support the need to formalize and integrate information management
into our work processes and information systems
