Part 05 Tension Members Lecture

The document is a presentation on designing steel tension members according to Eurocode 3. It discusses the design process, including calculating the required cross-sectional area based on the applied force and material strength. It also covers determining the design plastic and ultimate resistances, which involve the gross and net cross-sectional areas, yield and ultimate strengths, and partial safety factors. Examples of common steel section shapes for tension members are also shown.
