With GOOD MANNERS & RIGHT CONDUCT (GMRC)

QUARTER 1- MODULE 1:
LESSON 1

TOPIC: EXPERIENCING GOD & OUR EXPERIENCE AS HUMAN PERSONS

SR. MARIANITA ATENCIO,AR

Subject Teacher
INTRODUCTION

In our study of Christian Living 10, integrated with Values Education in the
formation of Good Manners and Right Conduct, this lesson will further deepen our
experience of God in our intimate personal encounter with Him in prayer and with
our interrelationship with one another as a nation of faith. We need to be
respected. We have dignity and honor that will help us develop our character in
light of the teachings of Christ infused with moral values, with courage and
discernment to face moral issues and to choose and decide what is morally good
and wholesome.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

 Provide learning opportunities to experience the presence of God

everyday through prayer
a. Listen and appreciate the voice of God in prayer
b. Enhance the habit of prayer
c. Build an intimate and close relationship with God
 Demonstrate a deeper understanding of what it means to be human
 Demonstrate and make decisions and actions that uphold goodness
a. Choose to do what is good in different circumstances in life

ACTIVITIES

A. CONTENT

Prayer develops our relationship with God. Our God, who is revealed in Jesus
Christ, is a God of relationship in love. In Jesus, we become the adopted
children of God. God initiates us to communicate with Him in faith, hope, and
love. Jesus taught us to pray the Lord’s prayer and call God, “Abba Father.” We
pray every day in vocal prayers and devotional acts of piety like novenas or
even in silence. We have to be persistent and humble, for God will not forsake
us and will answer our prayer especially if it is for our salvation.

Having been created by God in His image and likeness, we are gifted with the
spiritual gifts of intellect and freewill.

We are embodied spirit, a conscious being, a historical reality, a relational

person, unique yet fundamentally equal individual.

Since the human person reflects who God is, he or she, too, is a mystery. There
is always more to learn about each and every human person. He has unique
strengths and weaknesses, strives to know and develop himself more, and finds
hope and courage in his relationship with God.
EXAMPLES:

1. What is Prayer?
2. Why is there a need to constantly experience God in prayer?
3. What does it mean to be human?
4. What could be the reasons why God created us?
5. What do you think is our purpose as human being?

B. APPLICATION
WORKSHEET # 1

1. What is Prayer?
Prayer is an invocation or act that seeks to activate a rapport with an object of worship

through deliberate communication.

2. What are the Basic Types of Prayer that you know? ( write 3 )
 Hail Mary: Hail Mary, Full of Grace, The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among

women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray

for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.

 Our Father: Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come;

Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and

forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not

into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

 Apostle’s Creed: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I

believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit

and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and

was buried; he descended to hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He

ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From

there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy

catholic* church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of

the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

3. Recall and relate 2 instances that God heard your prayer

God heard my prayer when I asked for my parent’s safety abroad.

God heard my prayer when our family united again away from the Philippines.

4. Who is man?

God the father, God the son, God the holy spirit

5. What does it mean to be human?

To be human means to bear the image of God

C. ASSESSMENT
WORKSHEET # 2

1. Think of 2 persons that you have encountered or read who modeled a

life of prayer. Explain the reasons of your choice?

Our Pastor Jerry and his brother. From being a life of a worthless drunk, repented

his sins and served God. Now Pastor Jerry serves God through a Christian church.

2. Fill in the Chart of your Strengths and weaknesses ( 5 each column)

My Strengths My Weaknesses
Creativity Inexperience
Problem solving Nervousness
Open mindedness Discomfort
Bravery Hesitant
Intelligence Impatient

3. Cite ways on how to strengthen your strengths, and solutions to

improve your weaknesses as human being.
Identify your weakness. Outline a plan for professional development.
Commit yourself to a timeline of goals. Establish a support network to
hold you accountable. Challenge yourself to push past discomfort. Pray to
God to thank him in your strengths and pray for your weakness.
D.REFLECTION

God’s initiative to call human persons for an encounter with Him is

revealed throughout the history of salvation. He called many people to
reveal his plan to redeem humanity. This mysterious encounter with
God is PRAYER. The prayer of Abraham, Jacob, Moses, St. Monica, St.
Theresa of Calcutta, etc. interceded for the people’s conversion to see
the face of God.
The perfect model of prayer in the New Testament is Jesus Christ and
Mama Mary.
Having been created by God in His image and likeness, we were gifted
with spiritual gifts of intellect and freewill.
We strive to develop more of ourselves, find hope and courage in
strengthening more of our relationship with God, our Creator.
