We put the aforementioned code in our lte IE7 stylesheet, and everything seems OK, so far. I want
them to float left so they are all on one horizontal line. I have a few questions. (I’ve been “out of
Thesis practice for a few months, so this may be a simple issue) 1. Glad the Footer area is showing,
to have a look at using the widgets panel try this WordPress 2.8 video. Widgets are at 1:15min. The
snippet also shows the code needed to replace the default nav. Just looking to tie up a few more
things before we go live. WordPress has had two taxonomies for a long time: categories and tags.
And then remove the code you’ve added to add the image in there. If you follow that GIF tutorial
you would place your logo over the repeated background and then use the fuzzy select. I am having
trouble adding a banner that can be found at. So for my video page, I will have a list of different
styles in my footer, i.e Black and White, nature, sports etc. I’m going to have about 10 pages that I
need to have the same styling and sidebar on, just don’t have them created yet. I still can’t seem to
find an answer to what it is that I want to do. Also see Thesis nav menus for more info about the
navigation code. Now though, neither my logo nor my navigation bars show up. So that all worked
out very well, but now is my question, is there a way i can edit your origional code for the 3rd
sidebar so that it only shows on my homepage (static page) so that when I choose the no sidebar
option for my other pages I end up with non on those. You’ll see your code worked great for the
different header but if you click on one of the sub pages like “desserts” it refers back to the main
page header; currently purple. Ideally plugins like that would ask you to create pages for which it
replaces the content, rather than using a whole new page template. There will probably be future
work to combine these features. Or if you’ve used the CSS in the post, after the line. If it looks like
you have javascript on the non-home pages you could try Rob’s no conflict method. I had been
looking for a side bar that was the full witdh of my site and I was happily surprised that the 3rd bar
ended up as such. I’m currently experimenting with your code on my offline server and it seems to
work. I have started exploring on the Custom post types for a few of my projects and this came in
time to help. That’s essentially what the first “about” widget is. I then have a page that displays each
custom post type by category. I believe Flickr provides some kind of javascript widget, which you
can paste into a text widget in WordPress, or there’s probably WordPress plugins that create Flickr
widgets. Sidebar 1 has been fine since I’ve used widget but now I want to drop things into sidebar 2
like adsense and things but I just kind find where to put it without killing my site! Help. There are
many tutorials around the place on making repeating images out of photos. My floating boxes don’t
actually work in IE6 and I’ve hacked them so the site isn’t too ugly in IE6.
There was a code I have used successfully in the past, but now it gives parse errors and the author
refuses to answer questions. I have just spent half a day following your header and footer tuts. Used
your code for full headers and full footers and ended up with the the nav bar in its own spot and
some nice colors behind header and footer. Only an individual page named Blog will have the
custom class “blog” unless it is specified as the blog page when there’s a static home page, and then
it takes on a different page type— that of the blog articles home page and won’t have a special
custom class unless you give it one with the function mentioned above. I plan to use that on a
photoblog that will replace FotoFeed, my New Mexico photo site, shortly. If you want more help,
you’ll need to be a bit more specific. It’s all working fine now, except the swf is mispositioned. To
add meta boxes to the custom post type editing page, you need to provide a callback function and
state the function name in the registration code. Hope to see some tutorials and tips on Thesis 2.0
from you soon. But it is fairly common practice to pop this stuff in the functions file of your theme,
and if you do you’d need to remember to copy over the code if you change themes, but the same
goes for plenty of other customisations you might have. I can’t promise anything at this point, but I’ll
definitely look into those things and see what I can do. On a website that I am designing I would like
to extend the header to infinity. With automatic theme updates and world-class support included,
Genesis is the smart choice for your WordPress website or blog. Now, I can play around with new
version, however it’s still NEW animal for me. Even as a newbie, I was able to use your full width
header fix without a hitch. Anxious to try this out for the page framework then, Thesis 1.7. Thank
you for helping all of us. Note: I am using a draft preview of the page, but that shouldn’t matter. I
was looking at a page on the codex, but it was not useful enough to link to, I think it was a general
description page rather than the function reference. Switching to full-width should not break your
existing customisations (as the video will demonstrate). I did this full width navigation bar and it
worked but now I have a duplicate nav bar in the middle of my header. It’s not on the homepage
because you’re using a video there, not the custom code. Feel free to ask a follow up when you’ve
taken a look at that: essentially you need to use conditional code to output different things on
different pages. I found them quite useful when trying to grasp the syntax. Thank you for taking the
time answering my questions. I would like to add an image underneath the header. If you don’t want
default widgets to display at all you can deselect the option in the Sidebar display options in the
Thesis Design Options. The syntax highlighting helps visualise code a bit easier. I want the whiet box
to be the same green as the outer area. Here is a test site I’m using where I tossed in an example
banner. I changed the name of the custom nav menu as instructed above in the comments, but that
didn’t help.
I’ve played with the CSS and haven’t found anything. I found them quite useful when trying to
grasp the syntax. I want the footer text to be float left. However the footer text does not display in
IE. I used your tutorial but I’m confused about how to get the header image to expand and contract
with various computer screens. If they are text widgets you might have to copy out the contents first
into a plain text file and then copy it back in. All of the code in this tutorial will be inserted before
the thesis attribution. Weird because I have pasted it as normal text in custom functions. Are you
using Internet Explorer, it won’t work in that browser. I think you either drag the widgets from
sidebar 1 to the Footer or to inactive widgets and then the Footer. If you are using a Custom Post
Type plugin to create the post types there should be a field on the setup page that does the same
thing. I just checked on my host’s support page and it turns out my server had power supply issues.
Inspecting it more closely, it seems the body ends about 30 pixels before the actual bottom of the
browser. I’m not sure how those lines of text will affect your CSS file. Four values are short for top,
right, bottom, left (clockwise) and one value means the padding on all sides. For example I have my
logo at the header to the left side of the page but I want to put the menu to the right side of the logo
but at the same height as the header. It allows me to add widgets from the dashboard just fine, but I
have no idea what hook or filter will allow me to add custom php into the widgets. If you don’t want
default widgets to display at all you can deselect the option in the Sidebar display options in the
Thesis Design Options. You’ll see your code worked great for the different header but if you click on
one of the sub pages like “desserts” it refers back to the main page header; currently purple. If you’ve
added it as HTML in a function, you wrap it in a conditional like this, if it’s a CSS thing you use a
body class. I’m not sure if menu order changes the order in Thesis or whether you have to use the
drag and drop n the options instead. I’d prefer them to be on a click function instead of hover to
avoid problems with IE and with user dexterity. I would like to have a seperate header at the top of
every page to make the pages unique. Your help in the past has been awesome and much appreciated.
You could have a look at her CSS and see what’s different. There are many tutorials around the place
on making repeating images out of photos. Is there anyway to change Nav Menu to “Left of the page
and that too vertical” with all sub pages that are vertical drop downs to horizontal expansions. As I
look around at other sites, I’m taking note of things I might want to incorporate. Even for an
amateur coder like me you made this tutorial doable. That stinks! Any known workarounds or
suggestions? Thanks. I have made a couple of updates since it was first written to accomodate more
recent changes in Thesis, but really this tutorial is for Thesis 1.5 and beyond.
It doesn’t stay. But when I visit the my site, I see my widgets there. You may also import your
present documents to Google Docs. I was looking all over to find out how to adjust the footer of
Thesis. Anxious to try this out for the page framework then, Thesis 1.7. Thank you for helping all of
us. We test each product thoroughly and give high marks to only the very best. I’m trying to create a
footer that starts in the middle of the page and extends all the way to the right hand side. From a
user experience standpoint, it’s nice to scroll down and uncover something beautiful and unexpected
like this, and I don’t think that kind of thing can be understated. I am using Thesis 1.7 I’ve been
tinkering with it for a couple hours and can’t seem to get it to work. If it’s on the site you linked to in
the comment author info, then I can see why: there’s some significant errors in your CSS. You can
check the example at Shoutmeloud.com ). I am currently designing my theme but I am unable to
show the category child properly, it always shows unordered list. Unless you would like to add some
extra information to your footer as I’ve done on my blog and Simply Blog. The default widget will
show until you put widgets in there. So we can have one column with popular posts, one with those
page links, and another with the usual terms and conditions, privacy page links etc. I am terrified of
erasing everything ( like I already did) so now I’m confirming before trying. Filezilla will not let me
upload “thesis” without overwriting the old one. How do you display your all categories in the footer
(full width footer, with child category without ul, li. You’ll see your code worked great for the
different header but if you click on one of the sub pages like “desserts” it refers back to the main
page header; currently purple. I dislike two things about that tutorial: it dumbs things down such that
it no longer uses PHP terms and language, which means you might not recognise things you’ve
already learnt about when you read about them elsewhere, and it has some poorly formed code in it,
but lots of people have found that tutorial very useful. Basically I want the RSS widget in the main
content area of a single page instead of in the sidebar. I have enjoyed and appreciated tutorials like
yours. Four values are short for top, right, bottom, left (clockwise) and one value means the padding
on all sides. If you look at the page source it’s got a body class of “s58” or something like that,
which is the second of the time that you load the page. I feel a bit let down by the Thesis promises to
be honest which I know isn’t your problem. If there’s some pages that are going to be very short and
you’re concerned about that I can give you a couple of ideas for fixing it. At this stage of my
learning, even the smallest detail can take an hour, so trying to move hooks around is probably
beyond me. I talked about them a bit in this article on the DIYthemes Thesis blog. I keep getting the
background color of the page in my navigation bar. As weird as it may seem, that is causing the grey
lines. Just needed to switch the widget to relative instead of absolute positioning. So for my video
page, I will have a list of different styles in my footer, i.e Black and White, nature, sports etc.
