FACTS/ TIPS: Healthy teeth and gums:


-make it easy for you to chew foods,
- help you to speak clearly,
- give the mouth shape and helps you have a great smile.

You should care for your teeth so as to prevent tooth decay and
gum disease.

When caring for your teeth you should:


● gently brush the teeth on all sides with a soft bristle brush
and toothpaste at least twice per day.
● floss regularly.
● change your toothbrush every 3 to 4 months.
● lightly brush your tongue or use a scraper to help keep
the mouth clean.
● Visit the dentist at least twice a year for a checkup
and cleaning
● eat a balanced diet.
● avoid eating too many sweets.

FACTS/ TIPS:
When we do not take care of our teeth it can make a big
difference in the long run.
When you eat foods containing sugars and starches, they feed
on bacteria in plaque on the teeth.
The bacteria makes acid and the acid damages the surface of
the tooth. Over time,a hole or cavitycan develop in your tooth.

ON YOUR OWN:

 Spit out the toothpaste after brushing.

 Brush the tops and the backs of your teeth as well as the front. Brush
the tongue, too.
