 Right Forms of Verbs

Right forms of verbs মূলত কিছু topics-এর সমন্বয়।

যেমন- Tense, Subject-Verb Agreement, Conditional
Sentences, Inversion, Conjunction, Verb.

 Rule-1

Sentence-কির subject েকি 3rd person singular number হয়

এবং sentences কি েকি present indefinite tense এ থাকি
তাহকল verb যেকে s বা es যোগ িরকত হয়।

যেমন:
Konok __________ (open) the windows everyday.

The boy __________ (play) football.

 Rule-2

েকি Sentence-কির অথথ universal truth, habitual fact,

historical fact বা scientific truth প্রিাে িকর
তাহকল ঐ Sentence-কির present indefinite tense হয়।

যেমন:
The sun _______ (rise) in the East.
Water _____________ (freeze) at zero degrees.

 Rule-3

Sentences-এ সরাসকর always, regularly, sometimes, often,

generally, daily, everyday, occasionally, usually,
normally ইতযাকি থািকল Sentence-কি present indefinite tense
হয় ।

যেমন:
He always ____________ (disturb) the class.
They ________ (visit) my family occasionally..

 Rule-4

যে sentence-এ Be verb যনই, negative বা interrogative

িরকত হকল tense, subject অনুসাকর do, does, did বযবহার িরকত
হয়।

যেমন:
The boy _______________ (not) smoke.
______ they _____________ (attend) the class yesterday?

 Rule-5

WH question এর যেকে WH word সমূহ যেমন what, when,

where, who, which, whose, why, how, ইতযাকি থািকল W.H
word এবং Subject এর মাকে Auxiliary verb বযবহার িরকত হকব।

যেমন:
What ______ (be) your mom doing?
What _________ (be) you doing?

 Rule-6

বতথমাকন চলকছ এমন যিান িাজ বুোকত sentence কির Present

Continuous Tense হয়। একেকে বতথমান সমকয়র (now, right
now, at this moment, at this time, at this very moment,
today) উকেখ থাকি।

যেমন:
She ________________ (work) with him right now.
They __________________ (get) ready for the match at
this moment.

 Rule-7

Sentencese এ েকি have, has, had থাকি তাহকল verb-এর

Past Participle Form (V3) হয় ।

যেমন:
He has __________ (do) the work.
We have ____________ (make) him captain.

 Rule-8

Sentence-এ just, just now, already, yet, ever, lately,

recently, so far ইতযাকি থািকল Present perfect tense হয়।

যেমন:
She already ________ (come) out of the cabin.
Haven't you ________ (do) the work yet?
I have _________ (see) him recently.

অতীত কনকিথেি েব্দ বা phrase যেমন (yesterday, ago, long

since, last night বা last + সময় ইতযাকি) থািকল sentence-কি
Past tense হয়।

যেমন:
He ________ (leave) home last night.
I ___________ (see) you long ago.

No sooner had ... than, scarcely had ... when, hardly

had ... before থািকল had েুক্ত অংেকি past perfect tense এবং
পরবতথী অংেকি past indefinite tenseএ হকব।

যেমন:
No sooner had he _________ (see) the police than
he __________ (run) away.

Since এর ১ম অংে present indefinite/ present perfect

tense হকল পকরর অংে past indefinite tense হয়।

যেমন:
It is many years since I ________ (come) to Dhaka.
Many years have passed since his father _______ (die).

Since-এর ১ম অংে past indefinite হকল পকরর অংে Past Perfect

Tense-এ হয়।

যেমন:
It was many years since they first ______________ (meet).
It was long since I _______________ (see) her last.

That/if েুক্ত বাকিয that-এর পূকবথ Past indefinite tense থািকল

that-এর পকরর clause-কি সাধারণত Past Perfect (S+ had +V3)
হয়।

যেমন:
He said (that) he _________________ (go) there the
previous day.
I thought (that) I ______________ (see) her before.

 Rule-14

যিান simple sentence- এ principal verb-এর পর আকরিকি

verb হকল পকরর অংে verb এর সাকথ ing যোগ িরকত হয় অথবা verb
কির পূকবথ to বসাকত হয়।

যেমন:
I saw him _____________ (go).
I don't want _________________ (leave) this place.

 Rule-15

Had better, had rather, would better, would rather, let,

must, need, dare, far ইতযাকি থািকল verb-এর base form হয়
এবং প্রিত্ত verb-এর পূকবথ to থািকল উক্ত to উকে োয়।

যেমন:
You had better ________ (go) home.
I will not let you ____________ (enter) the class room.

 Rule-16

যিাকনা verb এর পূকবথ mind, worth, cannot help, could not

help, would you mind, with a view to, look forward to,
with an eye to, addicted to, be used to, get used to,
become used to verb-এর সাকথ ing যোগ িরকত হয়।

যেমন:
I went to library with a view to _________ (read) there.

 Rule-17

It is high time, it is time, wish, fancy ইতযাকি থািকল এর পকরর

অংকে past indefinite tense হয়।

যেমন:
I fancy I _________ (turn) pale.
I wish I ________ (can) sing.

As though, as if, wish থািকল to be verb কহসাকব were বকস।

যেমন:
I wish I __________ (be) a king.
He talks as if he __________ (be) a leader.

As though/as if/since-এর আকগর অংে Present indefinite

tense হকল পকরর অংে past indefinite tense হয়। আবার ১ম অংে
past indefinite tense হকল পকরর অংে past perfect হয় ।

যেমন:
He speaks as though he ___________ (know) everything.
She proceeded as though I ______________ (not speak).

Every, each, one of থািকল verb এর singular হয়।

যেমন:
One of the boys _____________ (be) absent yesterday.

Can, could, may, might, shall, should, will, would ইতযাকি

modal auxiliary verb-এর পর মূল verb কির base form হয়।

যেমন:
You may ____________ (come) tomorrow.
I can _________ (do) the work.

Am, is, are, was, were ইতযাকি to be verb এর passive

Voice এর যেকে verb এর past participle হয়।

যেমন:
The book was ___________ (steal) from my table.
The construction of the building has been ___________

যিান িাজ পূকবথ শুরু হকয় এখন পেথন্ত চলকছ বুোকল verb এর present
perfect continuous tense হয়।

যেমন:

যিান sentence এ েকি here/ there দ্বারা শুরু হয় এবং এরপর েকি
singular number থাকি তাহকল here/ there এর পর singular
verb বকস। এিইভাকব, plural number (noun/ pronoun) থািকল
verb-কির plural হয়।

যেমন:
There ___________ (be) a high school in our village.
There ___________ (be) two high schools in our village.

Lest েুক্ত sentence-এ lest এর পকর যে subject থাকি তারপর

should/ might বকস।

যেমন:
He ran fast lest he __________ miss the train.
Study more lest you ___________ cut a sorry figure in the
exam.

While এর কেি পকর যে verb থাকি তার সাকথ ing যোগ িরকত হয়।
কিন্তু While এর কেি পকর Subject থািকল While েুক্ত অংেকি past
continuous tense (S+was/were+V+ing) হয়।

যেমন:
While _____________ (walk) in the garden, he was bitten
by a snake.
The phone rang while I ______________ (do) the dishes.

যিান sentence-এর verb তার subject এর number এবং

person অনুোয়ী বযবহৃত হয় অথথাৎ subject singular হকল verb
singular হয় এবং subject plural verb plural হয়।

যেমন:
The colour of his eyes _____________ (be) blue.
The players in the field ____________ (be) strong.

Sentence-এ by this time, by (month, year, week, time),

next (time, week, month, year), by next (time, week,
month, year) ইতযাকি থািকল Future Perfect Tense (S+
shall/will have + V3)।

যেমন:
