SUBCLASS 870
Sponsor Eligibility:

Sponsors must meet the following criteria:

• sponsors will need to have a taxable income of at least $83,454.80 – it can be a


combined income of partners. (Provide Notice of Assessments from the past 2 years,
bank statements and pay slips)
• the sponsor/parent relationship requirements (i.e.: a parent must be the biological,
adoptive, or stepparent of the sponsor and a step-parent can only apply if they are still
in a married/de facto relationship with a biological parent of the sponsor (Provide
Identity documents including birth certificates, passport, Driver licence and etc)
• be aged at least 18 years of age.
• be an Australian citizen/permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen who has
been usually resident in Australia for four years. (Provide Australian
passport/citizenship certificate or Australian Permanent visa)

• The sponsorship application fee is $420.

Applicant Eligibility:

Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visa applicants must:

• be sponsored by a person who is an approved parent sponsor.


• be at least 18 years of age.
• be outside Australia (unless invited in writing to apply by the Department), for at least
90 days if the applicant holds or has previously held a Sponsored Parent (Temporary)
visa.
• not have engaged in payment for visa conduct.
• provide evidence of access to funds
• provide evidence of health insurance
• not have an outstanding public health debt (unless appropriate arrangements have
been made to repay the debt)
• satisfy health, character, and national security requirements.

- Passport
- Birth Certificate
- National Identity Card
- Marriage Certificate
- Police clearance from home country
- Previous travel history e.g., past travel itinerary, passport stamps
- Family registration form/document showing the entire family composition

IMMI Sponsorship Fee $420*

IMMI Lodgment Fee – 870 Visa Fee

(time of lodgment) $1,000* (for each parent)

IMMI Lodgment Fee – 870 Visa Fee 5 year visa

(time of approval) $9,000* (for each parent)

OR –

IMMI Lodgement Fee – 870 Visa Fee 3 year visa –

(time of approval) $4,000* (for each parent)

Health Assessment Approx. $350-$400

Police Clearances Vary

Note: Only two parents per household can be sponsored for this visa at a time. The limit allows more
households to sponsor a parent and reflects the potential costs a sponsor will be required to meet.
