Demo v0.2.0

Balance Adjustments to Classes

WARRIOR

AB2

Flight duration of projectile increased [17f -> 18f]

Changes and Fixes to Player Controls

● Players on touch-enabled devices will now be able to use keyboard and gamepad

controls to a certain extent.

○ This feature will be expanded and improved upon in the future.

● Fixed an issue where a player’s jumping cooldown would not prevent them from

jumping repeatedly.

● Fixed an issue where players would be able to airdash during certain moves where

the ability to do so did not make sense.

● Fixed an issue with airdashes where a player’s Speed stat would not properly

influence the boost of certain class’ airdash.

○ As a result of this change, airdashes are no longer able to influence

airdashes to a degree where they will boost players in the opposite direction.

● Fixed an issue with the Controls menu where binding with the mouse button would

not work properly, which would irreversibly mess with a player’s controls.

● Attempted to mitigate an issue with a player’s movement where facing a certain

direction would cause a player to tilt and wobble strangely.

● The transition between some animations involving movement has been adjusted to

be less rigid and smooth between animations better.

● Fixed an issue where the ITEM icon would not properly display a player’s currently

equipped item.

Changes and Fixes to Gameplay

● Fixed an issue where if a player had selected a nonexistent Class, they would load

improperly, requiring them to rejoin.

● Fixed an issue where if a player had selected a nonexistent Color Pack, they would

load improperly permanently, becoming unable to play the game.

● New messages announcing a player’s elimination have been added.

● Color Pack rarities and costs have been adjusted.

● Additional Color Packs have been added to the shop.

● Some Color Packs have been removed from the shop.

Changes and Fixes to Classes

● 4 new classes have been added to the game:

GUARDIAN - HEAVY BRAWLER

PRIEST - HEALING SPELLCASTER

GUNNER - RAPID MARKSMAN

STALKER - STEALTH ASSASSIN

● Every class’ Airdash boost may now slightly differ in behavior, mainly in Power and

Control.

○ Airdashes with higher Power apply more force to the player, while Airdashes

with higher Control have more influence on the player’s current momentum.

● HUNTER AB2’s ability icon should now display properly

● Adjusted WARRIOR’s “Abilities” description to be more accurate and less confusing.

This update primarily focuses on adding more classes to the demo to increase
player options and provide a fuller experience that will more closely resemble the
full release. There were also numerous bug fixes to help improve the consistency of
player control and maintain as relatively smooth a gameplay experience as is
manageable during development of the full release.

The next major update can be expected to come around the end of April to early
May, where the primary focus will be improvements to UI and implementing key
features of the lobby, including the Dueling Arena.

Demo v0.1.0a

Changes and Fixes to Player Controls

● Adjusted the appearance of water in all areas to be less jarring to players on lower

graphics settings.

Changes and Fixes to Classes

● Fixed an issue with MAGE CRT where the visual effects wouldn’t properly line up

with the projectile’s location.

● Fixed an issue with HUNTER CRT where the visual effects wouldn’t properly line up

with the attack’s location.

Demo v0.1.0

Balance Adjustments to Classes

HUNTER

ATK

Projectile no longer pierces enemies.

Projectile speed increased [85 -> 100]

Projectile hitbox size somewhat reduced

AB1

Projectile no longer deploys its net on direct hit with an enemy

Direct hit Slow effect increased [6 -> 16]

Net trap Slow effect increased [6 -> 12]

Added an effect to better show the attack’s range

AB2

Knockback angle adjusted to be slightly more forward

Knockback increased [65 -> 75]

SKL

Added a glowing sphere to better show the ability’s range

CRT

Adjusted the hitbox to be more accurate

Damage reduced [30 -> 25]

Added additional hit detection during the trap’s triggered phase

HUNTER’s Abilities often failed to enable its play style so the effectiveness of certain Abilities has been

increased in order to make fights against highly mobile classes more fair. As a result, HUNTER should

be a better introductory Marksman and have power comparable to the rest of the classes.

MAGE

AB1

Decreased the attack’s windup [1s -> 0.6s]

Increased the attack’s active flight duration [40f -> 50f]

MAGE’s AB1 was made faster in order to lessen its vulnerability at close ranges and increase the

effectiveness of the barrier’s dispelling properties. The increased flight duration should give it an

increased presence across the field as well.

Changes and Fixes to Player Controls

● Added controls for players on touch devices.

○ Mobile and Tablet players will now be able to access the game.

● Added controls for players using a Gamepad controller on PC devices.

● When using Abilities on a class, the player will now always attempt to use the ability

tied to the latest held input.

○ This allows players the ability to more easily chain Abilities together and

reliably repeat attacks by holding down an input.

● Fixed an issue with the Controls menu where changed keybinds would not properly

apply when the Settings bar was closed.

● Fixed an issue with the Controls Menu where setting Gamepad controls would not

record or function properly.

● Fixed an issue with Standard Camera that caused the player to look towards objects

that weren’t visible.

● Airdashing is now indicated with a visual and sound effect.

● The boost given by an Airdash is now influenced by the player’s Speed stat,

increasing or decreasing with it.

● The transition between some animations involving movement has been adjusted to

be less rigid and smooth between animations better.

● When knocked back, the player is no longer able to act or move.

Changes and Fixes to Gameplay

● When a player is knocked out, the attacker’s health bonus will no longer be

absorbed as overheal Shield HP

● Fixed an issue where if a player stole a K.O. from another player with only one

attack, the other player would be unfairly given full credit for the K.O. and receive

more healing than intended.

● Fixed an issue where stage objects like Heal Cubes and Hurt Cubes would persist

even after a Final Strike was initiated or the match ended.

● Fixed an issue where preloaded stage objects like Heal Cube Pads would refuse to

function properly once the match had begun.

● Fixed an issue where damage counters reading “0” would remain on screen

permanently.

● The results screen has been temporarily removed due to numerous technical

issues.

● Boost Items are now properly consumed during matches.

● Boost Item prices have been lowered to 50 Points.

● Color Pack rarities and costs have been adjusted to seem less sporadic.

● Additional Color Packs have been added to the shop.

● Changed the object layout on the following stages:

Stage Changes
The Hurt Cube Pads in the corners next to the
CRITICAL STADIUM high ground have been changed to Armor
Cube Pads.

Changes and Fixes to Classes

● Every class’ Airdash boost may now slightly differ in behavior, mainly in Power and

Control.

○ Airdashes with higher Power apply more force to the player, while Airdashes

with higher Control have more influence on the player’s current momentum.

● WARRIOR, MAGE, and HUNTER now properly have unique Taunt animations.

● MAGE and HUNTER now properly have unique Ability icons.

● Fixed an issue with HUNTER ATK that would cause the Ability to have unintended

input lag.

● Fixed an issue with HUNTER AB1 where the attack would be unable to apply Slow to

players that moved above its deployed net, even after landing on the ground.

● Fixed an issue with HUNTER AB2 that would cause the Ability to have unintended

input lag.

● Fixed an issue with HUNTER CRT that would cause the Ability to have unintended

input lag.

The focus of this update was to add and improve upon necessary features so that
the game feels smoother and more accessible to play. Adding support for different
control schemes was a key focus of the update.

Though surface changes are small, the numerous internal changes made should
hopefully allow for content updates to be produced in a much more timely manner.
Expect content such as new classes and stages near the end of March.
PLEASE NOTE: As of Version DEMO v0.1.0, player data will be completely reset. Expect this
to occur at any point during the CRITICAL X STRIKE Demo.
