CHAPTER 5

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION, AND RECOMMENDATIONS

This chapter presents the summary, significant findings,

conclusion and recommendations based on the results presented

in chapter 4.

Summary

This study aimed the students who are facing numerous

academic challenges, including assignments, projects, exams, and

quizzes, which can impact their academic performance. However,

stress can be dangerous and lead to failure. Hence to reduce

stress, students need to create coping strategies, such as providing

control over their education, information about expectations, and

feedback on improving performance. Stress can have both positive

and negative effects, with positive influences promoting awareness

and new perspectives. Negative influences can lead to feelings of

distrust, rejection, anger, depression, and health problems like

high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke. Recognizing

common stress symptoms can help manage them and prevent

health issues like high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity, and

diabetes. The study found that problem-solving and social support

are the most commonly used coping mechanisms.

Summary of Findings
41

These are the summary of findings in the study per problem stated

in chapter 1.

Problem 1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of

age, gender, and class/sections?

The respondents mostly are female, for nowadays they are

the ones who are more likely experiencing the academic stress

among the Grade 12 HUMSS students, and the dominating age

bracket are those from the 17 years old age bracket and 18 years

old age and above bracket, wherein the age of those who are

respondents of this study. Respondents are mostly those

individuals who are from 5 different class/section of Grade 12

HUMSS and still studying.

Problem 2. What are the Academic Stressors Faced by Grade

12 HUMSS Students?

The findings of the research revealed that peer pressure

significantly affects academic stress levels of the respondents

because peer pressure intensifies academic stress by promoting

competition, risky study habit and social exclusion, leading to

anxiety, self-esteem issues, and unhealthy coping mechanisms. It

is the statement that gained the highest mean.

Problem 3. What are the Coping Strategies that the Grade 12

HUMSS students effectively done?

The findings of the research revealed that engaging in

extracurricular activities as a form of relaxation is the coping

strategies that respondents effectively done because

extracurricular activities provide students with a healthy escape

from academic pressures, fostering positive mental well-being and

a sense of belonging, promoting a sense of achievement and

physical release. It is the statement that gained the highest mean.

Conclusion

The

Recommendation

Based on the findings and conclusions, the following items are

recommended to address the stakeholders of the study:

This study described the overall mean of all the factors as often

that delays the completion of the course requirements. And still

43

the study is open for further research in this topic, especially on

widening the factors and or giving another set of factors that might

coincide with the research itself.

1. To the graduate school students who are taking and will

soon take research methodology course. The researcher suggests

for you to see this research so that you will be informed on these

factors that are present and might hinder your completion on the

course requirements, and use this knowledge to excellently

surpass these factors.

2. To the faculty and staff of the universities/colleges that have

a graduate school program, with research methodology course in

it. The researcher recommends that you should raise more

awareness to this matter and the factors present in this study. To

be more considerate to your students when they are taking the

course.

3. To the future researcher with the same topic of this study.

The researcher hopes that this will serve as a guide and reference

for your study. The researcher also suggests broadening more the

factors for there are a lot to take consideration into. And that also

see other topics that correlates with research study, e.g. how to

avoid factors that might delay completion of research methodology

course requirements.
