OJT 2 EXPERIENCE

Week 1

During my first week of On-the-Job training at the Department of Environment

and Natural Resources (DENR), I was excited and somewhat nervous to start my

training on Monday. The employees of DENR commenced the week with a flag

ceremony, followed by a brief meeting and motivational talk. As a newcomer, I was

encountering a new environment and new people, and I had no idea what kind of

people they were or what their personalities and attitudes were like.

My supervisor designated me and two of my classmates to a section or unit, and

asked me to assist the office clerk and help them if their computer was having technical

issues. I was happy to be of assistance and my first week was a really good start. The

people at DENR were nice to me.

During the week, I had the opportunity to assist the people in my assigned

section, which was a good experience for me because I have knowledge and

capabilities related to Microsoft Office. Additionally, we were asked to sort and organize

old documents from the storage room.

Week 2

During my second week of On-the-Job training at the Department of Environment

and Natural Resources (DENR), I was assigned to the Conservation and Development

Section. Every Monday, we commenced the week with a flag ceremony, followed by a

motivational speech and then a general meeting to discuss the current status of the

overall operation and the next phase of the agenda.

During the week, the Forestry Officer asked me to fix his printer, which had not

been working due to dry ink, and also to optimize his computer because it was

performing slowly. I was happy to be of assistance and during this week, I was helpful

because they gave me a task that was familiar to me. I encoded some documents and

corrected the format based on their templates and older official documents for

references.

Getting along with the people was challenging because I’m shy, even though

they welcomed me heartily. The Forestry Officer was very nice to me and helped me

learn new things. Also, during my observation of the environment, I could feel their

strong camaraderie and how they helped each other with their tasks.

Week 3

During my third week of On-the-Job training, I remained assigned to the

Conservation and Development Section. On Monday, an officer election took place due

to the addition of new employees and promotions, resulting in changes to everyone's

ranks that needed updating. Alongside two classmates, I was tasked with distributing

food and drinks during the election process. Following this, we provided assistance

throughout the event.

Throughout the week, my responsibilities included encoding various documents,

some of which were unfamiliar to me. Despite the novelty, I remained enthusiastic about

engaging in new tasks and developing new skills. I found joy in assisting the forestry

officer and other office workers with their duties, gradually becoming more at ease with

the nature of the work and the overall workplace environment.

Building rapport with DENR employees became a pleasant experience,

particularly with my supervisor, who not only proved to be amicable but also an inspiring

speaker and effective leader. His guidance has contributed significantly to my growing

comfort and competence in my role.

Week 4

In my fourth week of On-the-Job training at the Department of Environment and

Natural Resources (DENR), I experienced a notable evolution in adapting to the work

environment and understanding the intricacies of task workflows. While becoming more

adept at routine responsibilities, I also recognized that certain tasks required the

assistance of a supervisor due to their complexity.

This week served as a multifaceted learning experience, offering insights into the

varied responsibilities within DENR. Seeking guidance from supervisors underscored

the intricate nature of the work and emphasized the value of collaboration. The

realization that continuous learning and adaptability are vital for professional growth

became evident, turning challenges into opportunities for personal development.

As my On-the-Job training journey unfolds, I appreciate the perpetual learning

curve within dynamic environments. The fourth week not only enhanced my familiarity

with the work atmosphere but also showcased DENR as a rich learning environment,

providing valuable experiences that contribute to my ongoing professional growth.

REFLECTION / LEARNING / INSIGHT GAINED

Week 1

In my first week at DENR for On-the-Job training, the mix of excitement and

nerves created a platform for valuable learning. The week kicked off with a flag

ceremony, a brief meeting, and a motivational talk. As a newcomer, the unfamiliar

environment and faces presented an unknown landscape.

Assigned to a specific section, I assisted the office clerk with technical issues,

marking a positive start to my training. The warm reception from DENR employees

added to the positive experience. Throughout the week, actively contributing to my

assigned section highlighted the practical application of my Microsoft Office skills, while

sorting and organizing old documents provided insights into organizational practices.

Reflecting on the week, I learned the importance of adaptability, effective

collaboration, and the practical application of existing skills in a professional setting. The

positive atmosphere and support from colleagues set the stage for continued growth in

the subsequent phases of my On-the-Job training.

REFLECTION / LEARNING / INSIGHT GAINED

Week 2

In my second week of On-the-Job training at DENR, I learned valuable lessons

that significantly contributed to my professional growth. Assigned to the Conservation

and Development Section, our weekly routine included flag ceremonies, motivational

speeches, and comprehensive meetings that provided insights into organizational

dynamics and priorities.

A notable experience involved assisting the Forestry Officer by fixing his printer

and optimizing his computer. This task, aligned with my skills, not only gave me a sense

of accomplishment but also showcased practical applications in a professional context.

Encoding and formatting documents further honed my attention to detail.

Navigating interpersonal dynamics proved challenging due to my shyness, yet

the welcoming environment, particularly the Forestry Officer's kindness, facilitated my

learning and skill acquisition.

In essence, this week at DENR enhanced my technical skills and underscored

the significance of adaptability and collaboration. I eagerly anticipate further growth in

the subsequent phases of my On-the-Job training.

Week 3

In my third week of On-the-Job training at DENR's Conservation and

Development Section, participating in the officer election highlighted the dynamic nature

of the workplace, driven by new hires and promotions. Contributing to the election

process emphasized the importance of teamwork in achieving common goals. Engaging

in diverse tasks, including encoding unfamiliar documents, underscored the value of

adaptability and a proactive mindset.

Assisting the forestry officer and other colleagues brought joy, emphasizing the

rewarding nature of collaborative efforts and fostering comfort in the workplace. Building

rapport with DENR employees, especially my supervisor, provided insights into effective

leadership and its positive impact on individual and collective growth.

In summary, this week's experiences have deepened my understanding of

REFLECTION / LEARNING / INSIGHT GAINED

Week 4

The insight gained from my fourth week of On-the-Job training at the Department

of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) revolves around the dynamic interplay

between familiarity and complexity in a professional setting. As I grew more accustomed

to the work environment and the workflows of routine tasks, the week also highlighted

the intricate nature of certain responsibilities that necessitated the guidance of a

supervisor.

This dual realization underscores the multifaceted nature of the workplace, where

an evolving understanding of routine operations coexists with the acknowledgment that

some tasks inherently require collaborative problem-solving. Seeking assistance from

supervisors not only facilitated effective resolution of complex challenges but also

fostered a collaborative spirit, emphasizing the importance of learning from experienced

professionals.

The overarching insight gleaned from this week centers on the perpetual learning

curve within dynamic environments. Challenges encountered during On-the-Job training

are not obstacles but opportunities for personal development.
