1.Subject
Information on the new software release (R56.00-041)

2.Objective Equipment
NWZ-1650 Display unit: Before serial number KF89101.
As to after KF89102, these units are not objective due to already been update at the factory.

3.Outlines
At start-up, a communication error between Display unit and Processor unit may occur, rarely. In
such case, an indication which to change to the remote display mode is displayed even though it is
the main display. If press the "OK" on the main display by mistake, the display change to the
remote mode, and Position, Speed, Course, Satellite information, etc. cannot be displayed.
To prevent this unintentional display change, the function of Main display / Remote display
automatic judgement at start-up has been deleted.

To change the main display to the remote display, please refer to attached document " Procedure
for changing Main display to Remote display (NA19ZZ1216B) " and change to the remote display
by using menu key.

After setting the remote display, it will start as remote display.

To update program, please refer to attached document " Program Update Procedure for
NWZ-1650 (NA19ZZ1216C)".

To change the Remote display to Main display, please refer to attached document " Procedure for
changing Remote display to Main display (NA19ZZ1216D) "

Procedure for Changing Main display to Remote display

To change the DISPLAY TYPE (MAIN → REMOTE), please set as follow.

2. Set "DISPLAY TYPE" and "SFI".


Select "REMOTE(LAN)" or "REMOTE(SERIAL)" for DISPLAY TYPE.

Setting SFI
Set SFI so that SFI is not duplicated on the same LAN network.
When setting multiple remote displays or processors on the same LAN, refer to the following as the
guideline to avoid duplication of SFI. If SFI is duplicated, data cannot be sent and received correctly.

To input data from a serial port, select GPS Serial Port.


To input data via LAN, select the LAN port of the processor that receives the data.

5. Tap on “OK”.

To display the Positioning system / FIX mode, output the following sentence from the processor.
It is recommended to set the output format to “IEC”.

Program Update procedure for NWZ-1650

1.1 Required Items


PC (Windows 7 or 10)
LAN cable: CFQ-7540 or general LAN cable
Software for Display unit NWZ-1650: NWZ-1650_5600041.jrc
Update PC Tool for JLR-8600: JrcUpdateTool for JLR-8600.zip

1.2 Saving Setting Values


For storing the setting values of a display, refer to “1.4 Saving display unit setting values”.

1.3 NWZ-1650 Software Update -via Processor Unit-


NWZ-1650 is updated via processor unit. All display unit connected with the processor unit including
remote display are updated.

1.3.1 Preparation

(1) Remove the housing cover of NDC-4100.


(2) Connect Ethernet port of NDC-4100 LAN1 or LAN2 and PC with the Ethernet cable.

Caution
Port LAN0 is used only for the Display Unit. Don’t connect other devices except for the Display
Unit because power supply voltage (+24VDC) is outputted from this port. The connected device
may be damaged.

(3) Run the PC software (JrcUpdateTool.exe) for the update by right-click and “run as administrator”.
If you do not have administrator privilege on the PC, you can’t update the software because the
LAN adapter can’t be setup.

1.3.2 LAN connection settings

(1) Select “LAN” in the [Interface] column of the PC software for update.
(2) Select the Processor Unit “NDC-4100” from the [Network] list. Select LAN1 or LAN2 according
to the LAN port which PC is connected.
(3) Select the LAN adapter of the PC from the [Adapter] list.
(4) Click the [Set IP] button.

(5) Since the message “IP setting is OK.” is indicated, click the [OK] button.

If “Adding maintenance IP address failed.” is indicated, confirm the connection of Ethernet cable.

1.3.3 Selection of the connected equipment.

(1) Select “GPS Proc” from the [Equipment] list in the step2. Check No. of processor unit on the
Display Unit and select appropriate No.
(2) The IP address of Processor Unit is entered into [Equipment IP] field automatically.
(3) Please confirm the Equipment IP is the same as the IP address displayed on the Display Unit.
When the IP address is different, change the Equipment IP to the one on the Display Unit.

1.3.4 Confirmation of the software for the update

(1) Click the [Get version] button.


(2) Since the message “OK.” is indicated, click the [OK] button.

If “TCP connection error.” is indicated, confirm the IP address settings.

(3) Since the current software version is displayed on the [Software] list, please confirm it is the same
as the Processor Unit version displayed on the Display Unit and select “DISP”.

1.3.5 Selection of the file for update

(1) Click the [Browse…] button and select the update file(.jrc).
(2) The selected file information is displayed on the [Version] filed and the [Information] filed.

1.3.6 Perform the update

(1) Click the [Update] button and then the update process starts.

(2) The following is indicated on the PC, please click the [OK] button.

(3) During update, the following message will be displayed on the display connected to the NDC-4100.

(4) When the update is completed normally, the display automatically restarts.

Nothing is displayed on the screen for about 1 minute, but do not turn off the power.

1.3.7 Complete the update

(1) When closing the application (JrcUpdateTool.exe), click the [x] button on the title bar.

(2) Confirm the current software version of the Processor Unit by following the step

and check whether it has been updated or not.

(3) Remove the Ethernet cable connected between NDC-4100 and PC.

1.4 Saving display unit setting values


When replacing a Display Unit, the setting values that are stored in the Display Unit can be saved in a
Processor Unit and after the replacement of the Display Unit, the setting values can be imported from
the processor.

Select BACKUP.

Then, select on the screen. The data of the Display Unit is saved in the Processor Unit.

Select PROCESSOR→DISPLAY.
Select OVERWRITE.

Then, select on the screen. The data of the Display Unit that was saved in the Processor Unit is
restored in the Display Unit.

To change the DISPLAY TYPE (Remote → Main), please set as follow.
