INTRODUCTION
Scientists define energy as the ability to do work. Modern
civilization is possible because people have learned how to
change energy from one form to another and then use it
to do work.
In physics, energy is the quantitative property that is
transferred to a body or to a physical system,
recognizable in the performance of work and in the form
of heat and light.
Energy is a conserved quantity—the law of conservation
of energy states that energy can be converted in form, but
not created or destroyed.
Energy is a fundamental property of the universe, and it
exists in various forms.
A resource is a physical material that humans need and
value such as land, air, and water. Resources are
characterized as renewable or nonrenewable. Energy and
resources are essential concepts that play an important
role in various aspects of our lives and the functioning of
the planet.
FORMS OF ENERGY
Kinetic Energy: Energy associated with the motion of an
object

Potential Energy: Energy stored within an object due to

its position or condition

Thermal (Heat) Energy: The energy associated with the

temperature of an object

Chemical Energy: Energy stored in the chemical bonds

of molecules

Nuclear Energy: Energy released during nuclear

reactions, such as in nuclear power plants.

Electrical Energy: Energy carried by the movement of

electrons
