What is a Robot?
A robot is an Electronic machine that carrys out tasks automatically. It can execute
specific tasks with little or no human intervention and with speed and
precision. Robots are meant to replace human effort.
What is Robotics?
Robotics is a branch of engineering that involves the conception, design,
manufacture and operation of robots. The objective of the robotics field is to create
intelligent machines that can assist humans in a variety of ways. Robotics can take
on a number of forms.
Medicine
Generally, robots are used in the medical field to assist healthcare workers in their
daily work. Today, medical robots are also well known for their roles in surgery.
Surgical robots allow doctors to perform many types of complex procedures with
more precision and control than is possible with the standard method.
Agriculture
Robots have a wide range of applications within the agricultural industry from
performing complex tasks such as monitoring crops and measuring PH levels
in the soil, to simpler tasks of picking-and-packing fruits and vegetables and
planting seeds.
Manufacturing
Distribution Centres
Warehouse robots can help workers move inventory into a centralized area
for picking, making it easier and faster to assemble pallets or individual
orders. Some robots can store and retrieve inventory from areas where
human workers can't reach.
Advantages of Robots
Disadvantages of Robots
1. Robots can increase unemployment
2. Lack of critical thinking
3. Can be expensive
4. Require installation and maintenance
