CM Assignment 2

The document provides instructions and data for five construction management problems and five PERT problems. For each construction management problem, students are asked to draw a network diagram, identify the critical path and project duration, and calculate event times. For each PERT problem, students are given activity time estimates and asked to calculate expected durations, earliest and latest event times, slack, and standard deviation and variance. The problems provide data on activities, durations, and precedence relationships for scheduling analysis exercises.

CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT

ASSIGNMENT
CPM Problems
The activities with their time estimates and their precedence relationship are given below for small projects.
For all the problems

a) Draw the network diagram

b) Find the critical path and project completion time
c) Calculate EST, EFT, LST, and LFT for all activities and mark in the diagram.
d) Calculate total floats and free floats for each activity.
e) Open a tabular column and enter all reading
f) Mark the critical path in the network diagram

Problem - 5

A project consists of the following activities from A to H. The precedence relationships between the
activities are as Follows: A and B is starting activities; H is the end activity; C follows A; E follows B; F
follows C; G follows D and E; H follows G and F. The duration in days of various activities are A=7, B=8,
C=9, D=5, E=4, F=6, G=9 and H=3
PERT Problems
The given projects consists of the following activities.

a) Calculate the expected time and mark on the network.

b) Find the project completion time and Identify the critical path
c) Find earliest expected time and latest allowable time for all events.
d) Calculate slack for all events. Open a tabular form and enter all details.
e) Compute standard deviation (S) and variance (V).
