FSX G940 Tutorial
FSX G940 Tutorial
First of all, you will need to have a look on your throttle. On the right hand-side of the throttle’s
knob you will notice sth which is called ID (1,2,3).
You will need to set it to ID “2”.
Why I have done it ?
FSX ( on Windows 7 64 bits ) from some reason sees G940 assignments as keyboard
assignments if the ID is set to 1 (?!!)
I don’t know why is that. It never happened with Win7 32 bits neither Win XP. I have not tested
it on Win Vista. Sorry...
Now you will need to open up your LGP (Logitech Gaming Profiler) and have a look on the
setting like on the picture “global setting.jpg” and check and un-check all red-highlighted
places.
Then import to the profiler the “xml” file which you will find inside the folder with pictures.
(Click on profile in the upper right corner and select import ).
Now you can minimize your profiler as you won’t need it anymore just make sure to save your
setting before you shot down your PC. If you forgot. Don’t worry you can load up “xml.” file next
time.
Ok. If it is done you need to run your FSX (you don’t really need to do it from the profiler and
just simply click on your FSX icon on your desktop and run the game).
II. Calibration.
It is recommended for the first time. In FSX just select first pedal click on calibrate tab and
configure it then save. Control settings -> Calibration tab (Calibrate) .
Do the same for joystick and throttle.
* Notice that there are some buttons POV you wont be able to calibrate and configure them for FSX. (see picture
calibration FSX example.jpg). There is a one button on Throttle and one on the joystick.
III. Assignments
This will be the longest part of this tutorial, so you will need to sacrifice :) around 30-40 minutes
to set everything up.
Let’s configure our pedals. You will need to have a look on the pictures pedals part1, 2,
3, 4 (pedals part1/2/3.jpg etc) and make sure that your setting is the same.
*(Remember this is only an option so you don’t really need to do all assignments in the way I did, but it is
recommended now. Later on, once you have everything set up, you can make your own changes etc.)
Next parts are throttle and joystick. Just look on the relevant pictures (“joystick part 1/
2/3 etc, throttle part 1/2/3 etc..) and follow instruction on the screen. Make sure
you cover all re-highlighted places.
Once you have completed it, you can start assigning other commands from your keyboard, for
example: “Pause” for “P” ,“~” for “ATC window”, “1” for “category view” and so on...
Remember, when you do assignments for keyboard, they will be visible under the setting for all
your devices, no matter from what device you’re doing it, so don’t worry about this if you see the
same assignments for keyboard under joystick, pedals and throttle.
Have a look on my “keyboard example.jpg” picture and see how I set the commands.
Also remember that if you ever would like to change some buttons on your device, for example:
joystick, and re-assign in the FSX “button 2” from for example: “parking break” to “push-
back” then you will need to change it in the same way in your profiler.
So again, for example:
- assignment in FSX for “button 4” on the joystick is “landing lights”, so then in the
profiler assignment for “button 4” of the joystick has to be exactly same.
It means you should see in profiler under “button 4” - “landing lights”. Easy, is’nt ?
Ok. So let say we have all our assignments set. Now is time to test it in our FSX environment
but before you do that just close down FSX and re-open it in case it would crash without a
reason as then you will need to start all over again.
IV. Testing
Select outside view (spot view from the top menu in FSX (hold down “Left alt” for top menu))
and move your joystick left/right, up/down and see if the aircraft responses.
Do the same with pedals. Push them (once left, once right) and see if the rudder moves and then
again with throttle, move it forward and see if the aircraft starts.
Then simply check if all commands you have assigned work and if you like the way it works.
If sth seems not to be working or maybe some assignments are not very handy for you, you can
change them in the way you like (go to the top menu select controls-> make changes -> go back
to your jet and test) but again if you do some changes for G940 devices in FSX, you will need to
change them exactly in the same way in Logitech profiler.
If you do changes only for keyboard so only in FSX as profiler has nothing to do with the
keyboard setting.
V. Force feedback.
I hope your aircraft can fly now and you’re enjoying your G940.
p.s I can guarantee that my flight system works without any problem now although I had had
some problems before but is simply was lack of my knowledge about it.
Of course it is understood that some of you guys won’t be happy as there is always sth wrong you
can find about it however this should not affect your flight at all.
I’ve been flying with Airbus Wilco vol.1 319, 320 for long time and it works brilliant for me.
