1 prolonged blast A vessel nearing a bend or an area of a channel or fairway

9. Oil field/ Gas Procedures etc …………..see Gas Drill Scenario on board.

10. Set & Drift Calculations.

What is your course after 1 hour if situation current from port side..?
Current 1 knot Ship Course 0850

Course 0900
Ship speed 10 knots

------ see Brown Almanac page 334; speed current / ship speed = 1 : 10 = 0.1
In table ratio 0.1 = 5.7 --> Ship heading 090 – 5.7 = 084.30 due current from Port side.

Example: Date 2 June at 12.00hrs; Zuluf Oil Field = 145cm; On Chart Depth = 30m; Present Ship Draft = 3.0m
Questions: UKC = Under Keel Clearance?

Answer:
Total Depth = Chart Depth + ‘ZulufOF-TT’ = 30m + 145cm = 31.45m

UKC = Total Depth – Ship Draft = 31.45m – 3.0 = 28.45m

Note: UKC Safe Standard regarding ARAMCO Rule minimum = 5 Meter (see MIM-1193.005)

c. Weight of Ship.
Example: Max. Draft = 5.0m; Present Draft = 4.0m; TPC = 4.85
Question: Weight of Ship?
Answer: Different Draft = Max. Draft – Present Draft = 5.0 – 4.0 = 1.0m

Draft = Weight  Weight = Draft x TPC

TPC
Weight = 100cm x 4.85
Weight = 485 Tons

d. FWA Fresh Water Allowance

Draft will change when vessel moving from salt water (density 1.025) to fresh water (density 1.000)
