A) Where do you reside currently?

B) What year of your undergraduate program are you now pursuing, or what year did you

complete your undergraduate program?

C) What is your area of study?

D) What would you like to learn or gain from the Aspire Leaders Program?

Hello, I am Zeynep, currently I live in the capital of Turkey which is Ankara. I study at the

university of Hacettepe, doing my bachelors in the department of Translation and Interpreting

between French and Turkish and vice versa. I have started this program in 2021, this is a 1+4

years undergraduate program which enables it’s students to become outstanding language

assistants in the future under numerous roles.

I still have doubts upon whether to become a language asisstant completely, or just mix some

other areas that I have curiosity and possibility of success. Currently I am doing my Erasmus

exchange semester in Belgium, and I have taken classes from different departments like

communication, politics and so on. However, I came to a sense that I feel better when I do

something related to languages and cultures.

Therefore I wanted to give myself a chance here in this program, to see how much I blend in

this multicultural and multiskilled environment.

Keeping in mind that no single test is definitive, what are the most notable ways in which the

BigFive test results align with, or are different from, your own understanding of yourself,

especially with regard to your strongest two scales. Which two subscales are notable to you and

why?
What aligns with me the most that I am an individual who always helps people when they have

problems or questions upon a lecture or something career/organisation related. This makes me

think that yes I am an extroverted who likes to share, spread positivity with the way of making

people’s lives easier if they need it… However I feel like sometimes everyone tries to take

someting from me, they do not actually care about me or want to be my friend when I compare

our levels of excitements towards our achievements… I want to work on this and actually learn

to help people who have pure intentions with me, who are as honest as me.

Given the BigFive test results and your reflections in Refelction #2, how might you use your

understanding of your personality if (pick one of the following options A-D to answer):

C) You are interested in pursuing a professional degree:

▪How would you identify your area of study? Who would you speak with and

why? What would you ask the person and why?

My department is one of the language programs with an applied program in

contrast to other theoritical departments, we learn the theory but mostly we work

and we get feedbacks on our solid mistakes rather than our ideas, which I love a

lot.

My department, translation and interpreting (bachelor or masters) targets to raise

individuals who can become a cultural and linguistic bridge between two or more

languages.

It helps organisations, companies and governments to have safe helpers who can

solve their communication problem with honesty and integrity.

I would talk upon my department with people who are optimistic about the future

of languages, or translators/interpreters because our field is improving too fast

compared to other fields with technology. Therefore in order to catch up, ı would

prefer multitasking people who have ideas on more than just the subjects.
