Abstract
Over the years, almost every part of the modern society, including jobs, business and even
our daily life has obviously been significantly impacted by the industrial and digital
information revolution. Today Artificial intelligence (AI) is one of the trending methods used
widely in our physical world and in our daily lives that could be seen in face and fingerprint
reorganisation that are commonly used to unlock our gadgets.

According to my observation, some people today still do not understand what artificial
intelligence is or how it can be used. By using AI, it brings a lot of advantages to human
especially in time. However, technology and systems are not fool proof.

Therefore, this project will be focusing on obtaining data through a survey and analysing it
quantitatively. Finding out how people understand AI, to compare the differences between AI
and human, and how much do they realize the changes made to society, culture, and
economy. The survey will be carried out through google forms reaching around 100
respondents and physical interviews of two to three people from different age group to
understand their thoughts about AI.

Project Description
The purpose of choosing “How AI changed our life” as my undergraduate individual project
is to take a deeper approach after encountering the presence of artificial intelligence (AI) in
almost everything in my life. From the smallest thing from our home to seeing it across
different industries. For example, nowadays a lot of households are using robot vacuum
cleaners to save their time, and it is cheaper compared to a traditional housekeeper. In the
most recent models, robot vacuum cleaners use AI and machine learning to improve their
systems on object identification, event-based cleaning, and of course mapping of the house.
Besides, bank uses AI to analyse all the previous data of a user. The AI helps to monitor in
real time and detecting credit or debit card fraud at the same time. On the other hand, AI
helps a lot in virtual customer assistance as it can be efficiently applied when it comes to
answering the same question. Improving customer satisfaction as it provides response
immediately in anytime and anywhere.

From the given examples above, we can clearly see how AI has positively impact our society.
In this case, the benefit of doing this topic is to explore more on AI and to investigate if it is
truly a good idea to apply it in our life. Nevertheless, this project will also look into ways to
establish coexistence relationship between AI and human.

In the age of digital transformation, AI has become more prevalent with machine learning
advancement. Artificial intelligence benefits from different aspect which include business,
nature, household, healthcare, and manufacturing. Human should adapt and get the right idea
on how AI impact their daily life in a good way.

Through this project, data collection will be done by using google forms and some
information though interview. Next, with the data in hand it proceeds to data analysis about
how AI changed our life.

Background
By the 1950s, the concept of artificial intelligence (AI) had been ingrained in the minds of a
philosophers, mathematicians, and scientists. This was all thanks to the investigation of AI by
the young British polymath Alan Turing. He advised that human can use the information that
are available on decision-making to solve problems so why can’t the machines?

In addition, a significant article published in the philosophy journal Mind in 1950 marked a
turning point in the history of AI. Ideas about the potential to teach an electronic computer to
behave intelligently are outlined in the paper including a summary of the iconic imitation
game and that is referred to as Turing’s Test. (Buchanan, 2005) However, robot is just a
small part of AI. It is the use of computers as test subjects that will help us grasp the nature of
intelligent cognition and action. (Buchanan, 2005)

During the 20th century, Apple had been a very famous enterprise that has utilized a lot of
artificial intelligence. Using voice recognition technology, Apple introduced 'Hey Siri' in
2011 for a variety of purposes. These include checking the weather, making a phone call,
listening to music and many more. Face recognition was also used by Apple for unlocking the
iPhone. Another big enterprise that is using this were Amazon Alexa, voice control digital to
create a list from the voice command to set reminder, play music or order online product.
(Kepuska & Bohouta, 2018). In the two examples above, we can see that AI has supported
the enterprises on improving user experiences and minimizing errors on handling procedures,
saving time and costs which impacts largely on both the enterprise and user.

Figure 1 show the technology landscape of AI. Artificial Intelligence refers to the simulation
of human cognitive functions by machines, especially computer systems. Learning and
reasoning are involved in these procedures. To learn, you must apply the knowledge that you
acquire, utilize it, and apply it. As for reasoning, it comes after analysing the problem
estimate or formulating a conclusion. The technology can also be used for a wide range of
applications, such as machine vision, speech recognition, and expert systems, among others.

Aims

2. Find out how many different applications there are for AI
3. To study can human and AI collaborate and the different between AI and human
Objectives
1. Promote or encourage people using AI
2. Educate them how to use it and focus on the elderly group and young generation
3. Analyse data that is collected through google form
4. Analyse how AI is used in different industries
5. Define how many aspects that AI involve
6. Find out the fear of human towards AI
7. Identify how AI affected the rate of unemployment
Task

Project Deliverables
At the end of my project research, I will cover a detailed explanation on three of my aims. All
these will be presented in Chapters.
Chapter 1: Introduction
- A clear definition of my project will be highlighted in the introduction, and a brief
guide of other section.
Chapter 2: Literature Review
- Chapter 2 will be using Google Scholar and Middlesex University Library online
database to gather the existing information about the project and make research on
what has already been done.
Chapter 3: Methodology
 - Discuss the reason on why I choose this topic and obtaining the ethical approval for
this study and discuss the ethical concerns.
Chapter 4: Finding and Discussion
- There will be an explanation of the data collected from Google forms and interviews
as well as the data on what has been collected.
Chapter 5: Conclusion
- Will be concluding all the work that include in this project.
Chapter 6: References
- This section will include all the journal article, books and website that would be cited
in my project.

Interviews

The interview will be using semi standardized method from two to three people from
different age group to find out the opinion that they understand about AI. The interview will
be one to one between interviewer and interviewee either online or face to face method. As
standardized interviews is more flexible for the interviewee answering the question and it can
collect the qualitative data and open-ended data from their response. Thought this type of
interview the interviewee has a chance to share about the feeling or though towards AI beside
of the formal answer that will be provided as this will help in the investigate process for
though this project. However, it will be challenging in organising the interviewee response in
the final report as it may ended up with all different answer from the interview.
Required Resources

The resources that would be use in this project will be google form for the survey. Microsoft
word and excel are used to create table and analyse data.
