Course Rules

Lectures:
 Switch off your mobile phones or switch them to the silent/vibration mode during class.
 Refrain from talking and chatting in class.
Homework Assignments:
 Please submit your homework to blackboard on time. Late submission of homework
will NOT be accepted.
 According to the University’s regulation, every assignment must accompany by a
SIGNED DECLARATION of originality; assignments without such a declaration will
NOT be marked. The declaration form is available for download from:

 If you could not sit for the mid-term examination, you must apply in writing to the
INSTRUCTOR for permission of absence within 3 working days from the date of
examination. In case of illness/injury, the application must be accompanied by a doctor’s
sick leave certificate (NOT an attendance certificate) certifying that you are unfit to take
the examination.
 If you could not sit for the final examination, you must notify your teacher as soon as
possible and apply in writing to the REGISTRAR for permission of absence within 5
working days from the date of examination. In case of illness/injury, the application must
be accompanied by a doctor’s letter certifying that you are unfit to take the examination. To
see the guideline, please refer to

 With each assignment, students will be required to submit a signed declaration that they are
aware of these policies, regulations, guidelines and procedures. For group projects, all
students of the same group should be asked to sign the declaration.
 For assignments in the form of a computer-generated document that is principally text-
based and submitted via VeriGuide, the statement, in the form of a receipt, will be issued by
the system upon students’ uploading of the soft copy of the assignment. Assignments
without the receipt will not be graded by teachers. Only the final version of the assignment
should be submitted via VeriGuide.

AI policy

 All use of AI tools is prohibited in assignments and assessment tasks

 For assignments and assessment tasks that count towards the final course grades,
students are not allowed to submit work which is produced with the collaboration of or
supported by the use of any generative AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT).
 Any breach of the regulations will be considered an act of academic dishonesty and will
be handled according to the University’s Procedures for Handling Cases of Academic
Dishonesty.
