BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY


INTRODUCTION

The primary focus of the parent is to educate


their children not only inside of the house as well
as in the vicinity of the school. The quality
education that may cater of the school will be a
great impact to our society as of now.
Poverty is always be manifested right now but
it is not a hindrance to succeed oneself but rather
it inspired the students to study hard.
Spending allowance of the students are very
necessary problems that we need to address.
Nowadays, allowances can be a great opportunity to
develop crucial financial skills at an early age
when done right. Every family is different, so the
best way to decide if allowances are really
beneficial for your children, is to just try out
different things as well as observe what works for
you and your family and in the end, make the
decision that you believe is best for your child
and their future.
The setting of this study will be at Baao
National High School for academic year 2023-2024.
The researchers will determine the spending
allowance of the Senior High School students.
In addition budgeting allowance is a global

(2021) most of the students has difficulty to


budget their allowance because they separate their
allowance into two categories, essential and non-
essential things. Moreover students in the
Philippines are also facing a lot of struggle in
terms of spending their allowance.
Rohel Boggaeon et,al.(2019) studied that many
students in the Philippines find it difficult
spending their allowance because of adding another
two years in high school. They needed to categorize
it in daily needs, such as school and personal
needs.
Most of the students are challenged in terms of
spending their allowance because some of the
students are far from the school, they are forced
to fare for ride, buy foods and school needs. Many
of them are getting tough times to manage or budget
their moneys given by their parents or guardians
because being a senior high student have a
similarities of being a college student.
The researchers want to conduct this research
to gather data and information on how wise they
spend their allowance and how difficult they spend
in daily life.
The general problem of this study is to give
student fulfil basic needs and requirements of the

daily routine in school. To make sure that the


students will use the allowance to their education.
The overall purpose of this study is to
determine the spending allowance of Senior High
School students. Giving them some strategies how
they will handle their challenges in daily
allowance.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM


The general problem of this study is to
determine the spending allowance of the Senior High
School students of Baao National High School in
academic year 2023-2024.
The result of this research study will be the
basis of the data interpretation of spending
allowance.
Specifically, it seek to answer the following
questions:
1. How much does the student’s weekly
allowance?

2. Where does the students in Baao National


High School commonly spend their allowance?

allowance?

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION


This study is focusing in determining how to
spend allowance of the Senior High School students
enrolled in academic year 2023-2024. The
respondents will be limited to one hundred (100)
students who are grade 11 and grade 12 students of
Baao National High School.
The participants will be statistically computed
using a Calmorin formula and stratified random
sampling. The researchers will use a descriptive
research design to figure out the spending
allowance of the students.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The researchers believe that this study will be
yielding the data, more so to the following groups
of people:
Students. This study will benefit the students to
give some ideas on how to spend their allowance.
Especially, nowadays it’s really hard to get and

earn money. This study helps students to guide them


how to spend their allowance properly.
Teachers. This study will benefit the teachers to
know and help their students in ways on how to
spend their money when it comes to personal and
school needs.

Parents. This study will benefit the parents to


help their children on spending their money on
personal and school needs.
School Administrators. This study will benefit the
school administration to be aware and have prior
knowledge spending personal and school needs.
Future Researchers. This study will help the future
researcher use this as a guideline to make their
study.

Chapter II

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

In this chapter we will read other related


literature and studies connected in our topic about
Spending Allowance of the Senior High School
Students in Baao National High School. We delve
into the existing body of literature surrounding
the spending allowance of senior high school
students. The aim is to develop a comprehensive
understanding of the various factors influencing
their spending behaviour, as well as the impact of
financial literacy and socioeconomic backgrounds on
their spending habits. By examining the available
research, we can identify gaps in knowledge and
contribute to the development of effective
strategies for promoting responsible spending among
senior high school students.
Spending behaviour
Students are facing difficulties to budget
their allowance. It may be affected by their

socioeconomics or lifestyle they have. Angelica M.


Abrehan (2019) studied that the life status of the
students may affect their budgeting , some of them
just have a normal life or moderate life status
that's why their allowance are just enough to buy
necessary things also some of the participants are
teenagers that's why their personal decision may
also affect their budgeting on their allowance. The
researcher surveyed to gather the result they
wanted to find out.
More over. Based on Yi-Yeong Kim et,al (2015).
Spending allowance are not easy because some
students are required to spend for their needs, so
students often find it difficult to manage their
money and prioritize their food.

RESEARCH GAP
While there have been discussion about
“spending allowance”, Might be a lack of studies
comparing the spending allowance of students in
Baao National High School with other school in the
region or country. This could provide insight into
the economic conditions and spending habits of
students in different areas.

SYNTHESIS OF REVIEW OF RELATED AND PRESENT STUDIES

Related studies
Students, we often whine about our allowance
and we should remember how to budget our allowance
or better yet we should be thrifty enough so that
in a way we’ll be able to help our parents.

The aim of the scheme is to ensure the need


to meet day to day, day living expenses doesn’t act
as a barrier to full time education for student
from low and socio-economic group allowance.
Most of student tempt to buy things which
are not really important and tempt to hang out with
friends, which are not included in budgetary
allowance, for most student, senior high school
students represent on how to manage money and
organize a budget.

This conceptual framework provide an
overview of the importance of understanding the
spending allowance of senior high school students
of Baao National High School.

THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
Based on T Ablay, J. et al.(2023) his
research explored the relationship between school
allowance and students' determination in studies.
It utilized a quantitative, descriptive survey at
Jagobiao National High School's Senior High School
Department, with Senior High School students as
respondents. The questionnaire assessed students'
perception of their determination in studies, using
the weighted mean to measure the impact of school
allowance. The study found no significant
association between school allowance and students'
determination. The amount of school allowance,
whether high or low, did not affect students'
determination. Students demonstrated varying levels
of determination in their studies, and their
socioeconomic status did not impact academic
performance. The willingness to engage in school
activities played a crucial role in students'
eagerness to study.

between students' satisfaction with their financial


support and the amount of their daily allowance. By
administering a self-designed questionnaire to
senior high school students, the researchers
examine the factors influencing satisfaction
levels. The results indicate that students'
satisfaction is contingent upon the size of their
daily allowance. Most students receive a daily
allowance ranging from forty-one to fifty pesos and
express contentment with this allocation. Effective
financial management leads to reduced debts and
liabilities, contributing to heightened
satisfaction. Furthermore, satisfied students
display increased confidence, resilience, and
reduced stress levels. The study suggests further
exploration of early-age debt accumulation among
students to enhance budgeting skills and enhance
financial support satisfaction.
Based on movena, J. et al.(2020) this
research, the connection between students' school
allowance and their motivation towards their
studies was examined. A quantitative approach,
specifically a descriptive survey, was used at
Jagobiao National High School's Senior High School
Department. The primary participants were Senior
High School students. The survey focused on
students' motivation towards their studies, using
the weighted mean to assess the influence of school
allowance. The results showed no significant link
between school allowance and students' motivation
in their studies. The level of motivation was not
affected by the amount of school allowance, and
students were occasionally motivated in their
studies. The students' socioeconomic status did not
impact their academic performance.
