An application program is a computer program designed to carry out a specific task other than one
relating to the operation of the computer itself, typically to be used by end-users. Word processors,
media players, and accounting software are examples.

Custom Software
General Purpose:
The first is general software like word processors, web browsers, spreadsheet software, etc.
Custom Software:
The second type of software is custom software customized according to the need of the user
and their organizational needs.
Business Softwares:
Business software (or a business application) is any software or set of computer programs used
by business users to perform various business functions.
Word Processing
Word processing software is used to manipulate a text document, such as a resume or a report.
Spreadsheet software
allows you to store, organize and analyze all your business data. A spreadsheet is a computer
program that can capture, display and manipulate data arranged in rows and columns.
Examples: MS Excel, Google Sheets
Databases
Database software is used to create, edit, and maintain database files and records, enabling
easier file and record creation, data entry, data editing, updating, and reporting. The software
also handles data storage, backup and reporting, multi-access control, and security. Examples:
MY SQL, Oracle, MS Access.
Presentation
it is software used for project planning, scheduling, resource allocation and change
management. Examples: TeamWork, Zoha, Basecamp

These are systems that help give individuals more control over their personal data. PIMS allow
individuals to manage their personal data in secure, local or online storage systems and share
them when and with whom they choose. Examples: MS Outlook
Mobile communication can be used to improve the organization by offering secure file sharing
on the go, document collaboration, and many different apps and software that allow employees
to access company info anytime.
Accounting Softwares
Accounting software is a computer program that maintains account books on computers, including
recording transactions and account balances. Examples: quickbook, zohobooks, netsuite
Graphics and multimedia softwares
Computer graphics are pictures and films created using computers. Multimedia is
content that uses a combination of different content forms such as text, audio, images,
animations, video and interactive content. Examples: Adobe Ilustrator, Coral Draw
Computer-aided design is the use of computers to aid in the creation, modification, analysis, or
optimization of a design. This software is used to increase the productivity of the designer.

Desktop Publishing
Desktop publishing is the creation of documents using page layout software on a personal computer.
It was first used almost exclusively for print publications, but now it also assists in the creation of
various forms of online content. Examples: Microsoft publishing, adobe indesign, coral draw.
Video editing software, or a video editor is software used for performing the post-
production video editing of digital video. In other words, the audio and video editing consist
of the manipulation of images, music and sound, effects, titles and any other material that is
included in the final piece before being duplicated or issued.
Multimedia Authoring
Multimedia authoring applications are software packages that allow users to present
interactive information through different media. They usually allow the integration of
diverse elements such as text, audio, video, and animated graphics, as well as the
distribution of these elements in a variety of formats.
