11 DWATCH 2 Navigating The Vessel in Congested Waters Applying Bridge Resource Management Principles

This document provides details of an assessment for navigating a vessel in congested waters while applying Bridge Resource Management principles. The assessment will take place in a bridge simulator and evaluate the assessee's ability to maintain situational awareness, communicate clearly and unambiguously, and determine risks of collision. The assessee must navigate safely while avoiding close encounters with other vessels and maintaining a passing distance of at least 3 cables. The 60-minute assessment involves a briefing, 30-minute simulation, and de-briefing. The assessee must demonstrate competency in bridge resource management, navigation, communication and collision avoidance skills.
