Computer is an electronic device capable of data input, processing, storing, and output
Information .generally set of instruction.
Basic components of computer
 Monitor: used to display information.
 System unit: used to process and store information.
 Mouse: one of an input device used to control on screen cursor.
 Keyboard: used to input data and command.
 Speaker: an output device that gives sound.
 Printer: an output device that print text on paper.
Computer classified in to two parts
 Hardware: it is physical lay out of the machine that can be seen, touched etc.
 Software: set of instructions or set of programs
Windows: one of an operating system that display icons and other images.
Window contains
 Desktop background : the screen of computer
 Icons: it’s a small graphical image.
 Task bar: its rectangular bar at the bottom of the desktop, it contains start, clock & others.
Function of mouse
 Click: it means selecting items (icons, program)
 Double click: it means open purpose
 Right click: display short cut menu (context menu)
 Drag : it means move purpose
 Select: to shade the file, text and etc.
Folder: it is a container for program and files
Some function of windows /Os/
 How to create new folder in desktop background
 How to change desktop background
 How to delete files and folder
 How to write in screen saver
 How to draw in paint
 How to write WordPad or notepad
 How to save document
Recycle bin: used to store deleted files, folders and other program
Word pad: used to create short paragraph document. /font text processing/
Paint: used to draw pictures and shapes.
Open Ms – word document it contains
o Title bar: it contains Min, Max, and close button and etc.
o Menu bar: it contains file, edit, view, format, tools and etc.
o Standard tool bar: it contains copy, past, cut undo and etc.
o Formatting bar: it contains B, I, U, font size and etc.
Min: shrink window and display only on the Taskbar.
Max: used to give window full screen.
Close: used to close terminal window.
